JUST IMHO.... DO NOT get a bike! LOL... Until, of course, you're ahead enough to grab one as a THIRD toy, ya know? Your girl gonna like getting all 3 layered up to jump on the bike in January, with a helmet and such, to go to shows? Yeah, not so much, hahaha.

Second, why spend whatever money you get on "ANOTHER BODY KIT".... at alllllll? Keep that money,....

And Lastly? "Been through so much?"... I hear ya.... but let go of that, buddy... that's fruitless for what's most practical for you and your life, ya know? Just my opinion... Our trucks? Sure, they're not a dime a dozen anymore... and you can REALLY PUT TONS of work into them... BUT, this? If it hadn't been wrecked that bad... I'd say "SURE, just patch it up and roll on"... But, ...that's a pretty good smack in the mug, RICHARD... It's just a car, get another one, ya feel me?(again, just my humble opinion.)

if you bring them things like the lights an washer bottle they will have to knock the price down so it can go under the estimate just an idea

You talk'n to me Mark?

My opinion, see what the estimate comes out to. If it's more than what they are going to give you than seriously consider getting the cash (if you can) and put a down payment on something you really like. If it's the corolla, so be it. But I wouldn't keep patching that thing up unless you plan on keeping it for a very long time, if not forever (sentimental value?). Reason being, if you were to sell it down the road, any reasonable person would order a carfax for the history. If I saw SIX accidents on there!! pffffttt....you're getting maybe half of the lowest blue book if I was desperate. Because, for my own protection, I'm going to assume you didn't have the best work done, used aftermarket parts, paint might start flaking, bondo in certain places, undocumented frame damage, etc.....Also, I'm going to assume you don't care about nor did you care for that car because you're prone to accidents in it....it isn't true of course, but I will not take your word (even with documents since who you used will be foreign to me) because I don't know you and will assume you're a crap bag Heck after thinking about it....I would probably walk once I saw the carfax!

HAHAHAAH.... OOOPS, sorry Grego. Yeah, my bad, I meant 'RICHARD'...

And I should have been more understanding in my statement, maybe...but I just try to sway friends away from all that 'sentiment' when it comes to something so unpractical like a high dollar decision such as a car(unless it will have high resale or something, of course). I TOTALLY agree with you, 'GREGO', hehe...

See what the estimate or 'cash payout' is(IOW, they TAKE the car and pay you off... Many then buy the vehicle back... Which also gets REALLY confusing but also throws up MANY red flags to future buyers. Most anyone is going to do a CARFAX.... I would, anyone I know would... And my dad always put it this way;

When I would say, "But it has sentimental value, DAD!... you don't understand!" hehehe... He would LATER in the day, say, "Hmmm, I thought about it.... I like it... I'll give you 20$ for it"..... To which I'd say, "SOLD!"..... his point just proven!

Have to see what they're offering. If it's like 1500$ ..... OBVIOUSLY fight them on that, push for 2500$... see what they do... then take it and FIX IT. BUT, remember, they will know all these wrecks occurred. SO< they'll likely tell you, "HOW MUCH TO FIX IT? Yeah, not gonna happen. And btw, we don't deal in 'sentimental value' IN ANY way"...... So you SHOULD plan, as I think you've said, "To buy it back" if it's more practical. BUT PLEASE, first ask a body guy on here if it's worth it? Someone that will be objective, ya know? Who wont be doing the work.... but just wants to help you make the right choice, ya know?

What would your pops say? hahahahaha.... I haven't met him, ...hope to some day soon... But I BET he would say, "Wait, ...WHAT? Sentimental who?" HAHAHHA.

Sure, see what they say...... But, once they do a lil digging... they will know it's been in 6 wrecks too, right? Might not end up worth it to part with it..... Just hate to see you throw body work(EXPENSIVE) into it at this point, ya know?

Grego, you are right. It is a ton of accidents. None which I have been at fault. But still yohre right. I'm sure if I make it nice n pretty again ill get a nice chunk of cash out of it. People out here don't usually look at the Carfax they see how it looks and how it drives. At least all the Mexicans out here where I live do. No I'm not talking bad about my own kind but its just true lol.

Thanks a lot for that recommendation! I hadn't thought about that. I'm gonna have to make a pick your part soon so I can grab all the damaged parts that i need.

Terry, Hell yes, I have had the worst luck with this car. So many fixes its almost a shame to let it go now that ice fixed every little thing that was wrong with it when i first bought it. But like everyone else says it does look bad. And I won't be able to sell it easily when I decide to go there. And not only that but I'm 700 miles away from hitting 192,000 miles. So maybe I outta get rid of it before I hit 200k lol

Mark I know what you mean. Thanks for your input. And youre right, my girl will kill me herself if i ever bought a bike lol if I had my truck already SAS'd then I wouldnt mind selling the car. Meh its all good whatever I decide on ill let you guys know.

I hear ya... Just remember, ... "DO NOT waste money beyond a certain point, fixing this thing", ya know? Maybe you could pull the Body Kit, clean it up(shouldn't be too hard since it's black... You know, lil bit of body work and paint)... and once it's clean enough, see what you can get? Why not get rid of it before ANOTHER WRECK in that jinxed thing! lol. Using the money from insurance to fix it is a good idea... AS LONG as it all equates to a PROFIT or breaking even in the end, ya know what I mean?

Hi Richard, just tryin to get caught up on your thread. Man, when I first started reading everyones comments on this page I thought your 4runner was the one involved in the accident, I was like "NOOOOOooo!" Lol. I had to go back a few pages and straighten out the details. Glad you weren't hurt, and it wasnt worse!
I really like how your door panels turned out, Nice work o the power window mod, thats one feature I'd really like to have on mine, so much easier and safer to roll that passenger window up/down on the go! Again, nice work!

Yea Mark I'm hoping I get a good amount off the estimate so I can fix it. At least make it look good again. Make it more profitable.

Thanks for dropping by Ed. Your post made me laugh. Dude I would be so mad if it had been my truck that crashed lol. I would have to have somebody hold me back to keep from wanting to kick his ass lol. Already invested a good 6-7k on everything that has to do with this truck. Easily 6-7k. And counting.
BTW I haven't done the power windows yet. I still need to figure out how to wire it up correctly amd with no internet or cell phone coverage at home its kind of hard to read up on threads to do my research. I'll get to it soon. And yes it will be a sweet mod when I'm done. Very convenient to have.

Ouch!

I can not believe that the cop let that guy go. And it is REALLY crazy that he let him drive the car in that condition. Seems to me, the cop was to freakin lazy to do the paperwork, and that he needs to lose his job.

Uninsured jackass! I have had one of those hit me in the past. He too tried to run, but his Cadillac ac ac ac ac ac (old school Billy Joel. Ha!) would not start. lol He blew a stop and hit my Mazda B2600 in the driver side rear wheel. My axle was bent, but I drove it home.

Best of luck with whatever you decide to do with the car. I'll be watching your thread to see what happens.

As for my dealings with the idiot that tried to turn through me... I got a call from the insurance company, but missed the call. I called back and they told me that they decided to total my Runner, but that the adjuster wasn't in, so I could not find out the buy back.

Hell... I don't even know what they are going to try to offer me yet. I feel a battle coming on. I won't take a penny less than $3000, but for the shape it was in, $4000+ would be what it would more likely be worth locally.

Thankfully I didn't have enough time to start building yet. I would REALLY be pissed.

Good luck.

So.... Got the call today. The insurance company is offering $1975 for my Runner, as it had prior damage to the back. They'll give me $900 for buy back.

Looks like she's heading for the junk yard. I could use the money more at the moment than spending time trying to fix the Runner. My Wife is getting ready to start a business, and I am going to be plumbing, running power, painting, and fixing things in the building she's going into.

Sage. Dude that really does suck. I wish they would have given you more. As for me they said my car only has about $1750 or so damage but that that price could go up as the body shop works on it because they can find more things wrong with it. But as far as that goes i havent heard a thing yet.

Mark, I'm still around and yes I'm down to help you out with the confer roof cage thing-a-ma-bob. How early did you wanna get started. I get paid this week but cant spend any of it due to bills so no pick ur part run for me till 2 more weeks. But if its help you need i'm up for helping you out early morning. Got a couple of plans later on in the later afternoon around 3 or so.I'

Just seeing how things are going. Everytime I had to deal with insurance it has been a royal PITA. Hoping they get it fixed for you soon.

CBI Off-Road Front Bumper

Alright, I dont know about you guys but i am on the CBI Off-Road Mailing list and the other day i got an email from them. They are gonna be having a Christmas Sale starting now all the way till the end of the year! They are gonna have new items on sale every week! I am REALLY interested in getting a deal on my one of my Dream Bumbers. The CBI DIY bumper portraid down below:

When i discovered this bumper i emailed the company for more information on it, because they dont have anything online on their website for this product. So this is what he replied:
---------------------------------------------------------------
Hi Richard,
Here is the information that you requested.

The DIY front bumper comes with all of the cut and bend parts you need to build the bumper yourself. This includes LED turn signal lights, mounting hardware, and d-ring tabs. The tubing on top is extra if you want that and it is $29.99 for the center grill guard and $34.99 for the headlight protection. The bumper does come with instructions also as to how you can build the bumper to get the best results!

Total cost would be as follows:

- Front bumper kit $399.99
- Center grill guard $29.99
- Headlight protection $34.99
- Shipping $51.50(shipping to my address)
=Total $516.47
Let me know if you need anything else!

Thanks,
Nathan Wright
---------------------------------------------------------------------
These are the pix he included for me to see for different views. it Doesn't look as nice but just posting as an example so you can see what he means when he talks about the prices for extras. Regardless i plan to make my bumper look like the one on the 1st picture above.

I dont really care too much for the way it looks with the light guards. So i only plan to get the Bumper, Center grill gaurd. And i'll install a winch and off-road lights myself.

I have been on the mailing list for a few months And I have never seen 1st gen stuff go on sale. Only the newer trucks/jeep items. So i went ahead and called these guys and asked if this bumper will be going on sale sometime within the next few weeks for the Christmas sale and the guy said he wasn't too sure. Said they were thinking about it but their company never settled on a decision. So i told them. Well, I know of 2 people who will buy this bumper for sure. Myself and another one of my friends(Chefyota). Not only that but i have shared the pictures that you sent me of this bumper with the YotaTech.com website and there were a couple of people who were interested in this product as well. I can tell you one thing for sure; you will definitely sell 2 garunteed, but i think you can expect to get a couple sales with this item because Warn, ARB & Tube bumpers are kind of burnt out already. Seems like everybody owns those major brands and people really like the new sharp look of this bumper mainly because its different from what is out there. If you guys do plan to put this up for sale please let me know so i can blow this sale up on the yotatech website for you guys and the dude really seemed to dig my proposal. He said they're gonna have a meeting sometime this week and will bring it to their company's attention. Told me he'd reply to me through email if it goes on sale or not.

I'm just crossing my fingers. I really want this bumper to go on sale. So far i have seen most of their bumpers being $80-90 cheaper then their original cost. and if i'm gonna spend $481.48 on the bumper any discount makes a difference. If they happen to knock off 80bucks on this item it should come out to a little over $400 at least to my shipping address.

If i had a group of people who were gonna buy this for sure i'm sure they would definitely go for it. Or possibly give us a group deal of some sort ya know.
---------------------------------------------------------------------
Anyway i just wanted to share that information for those of you who were interested. I'm definitely gonna go for that bumper if it does go on sale.

hahaha... That's funny... I LOVE the light guards and how they flow out of the grill guard. I HATE how ALL OF IT get's in the way when I'm working on ANYTHING near the front end of the motor... BUT, I like the idea of not smashing my front end in and needing 1800$ in Auto Body Repairs and such! hahaha.

I like their rear bumper with swing out, too. WOW, would be difficult, both, either to get together 1000$ for this OR to pass it up! hahaha. Very much a fan... and I think that second couple pics look GREAT! And I JUST NOW realized that they put the "CBI" cut out on the Bumper above the roller fairlead mounting slot..... I like it, lol. Man, with both of those and a Con-Ferr and Sliders... I think I'd "LIKEY" lol.

BTW, .. Idaho, eh? Maybe Dragon could do a walk in and save another 50$ for himself if he were interested, lol. I don't think he is looking for that type of thing.. BUT, ... he IS IN IDAHO, right? haha.
