Was talking about the missfire symptoms your truck has been having lately. Not the drip.

Not a "no go" either.... But thanks either way for the concern.

Hey Red while your here? Are you running a cv rear drive shaft, as I recall your pinion angle pointed up to the T case output flange.
Thanks

Havent checked your thread lately but i seen pwr windows locks soon on avatar and my buddy just sold a set of power doors for $50. I think that was a steal???? Minor surface rust on bottoms but even the internals are worth that.

I'm not sure i understand your question. My drive shaft is still the same as all toyota rear drive shafts. I did change the pinion angle to point upward toward the transfer-case like you said

for $50 wow that is a huge steal! i bought all the internals and wiring and mirror parts for about $350ish. i think i paid a bit much but i really want power windows so its a good upgrade for me.

I think he is asking if you are running a double cardan joint on the rear driveshaft. Pretty easy to tell, either it has one joint on each end, or one side has two.

I do get vibration. Well not very much ots more like a small thump when I put it back into 1st gear after being stopped at a red light or stop sign. I don't think to much on it though. It doesn't always happen.

What kind of vibration are you talking about? Does yours vibrate?

Oh I get you guys. Yeah the only CV that I have is on the front drive shaft on the transfer case side. I don't have CVs for the rear driveshaft

Slight vibration 20-30 mph. Almost mimics a badly scalloped tire, very subtle. I'll work on it. Rotate tires 1, and recheck all my applied torque points. Could be the drive shaft too.

Watched a drive shaft video and it said if you took apart you drive shaft apart. Like slid them off the splines then slide it back together a few teeth off meaning it isn't aligned that it could cause a vibration. Its on youtube somewhere.

I would recommend tightening the bolts on all 4 leafsprings. I know I would get some nasty shake around the same speed as you say. And realized my bolts were slightly loose even when I couldn't see a gap. That might be it.

Maybe this was already covered but did you check the u joints for play? I had a bad yoke, didn't know it, and replaced the front u joint, only to have it go out 10K miles later. Ended up getting my driveshaft serviced with a new yoke, 2 new u joints, rebalanced and painted all pretty - for $250. Sounds great now.

If you have a "chirping" when starting from stopped, I think that's a clear indicator of a loose u joint.

U bolts all torqued down. The drive shaft has not been off in years. Its in the spline position from the factory. My guess is that because the flanges are not parallel as a u joint only drive shaft should be, it shakes a wee bit. The drive shaft is in phase at each end.

Did you ever get to the bottom of your problem Tuef?
------------------------------------------

So this past week my Neighbor and I Decided to take last minute labor day weekend trip. Called Mark up earlier in the week and he's coming too. Originally we had planned to hit up a couple of Angels Crest National Forest trails satirday. Then on the day of labor day go to Big Bear. Due to there being a few trails closed at Angels Crest, and the ridiculous heat out here in Los Angeles we decided to just only do the run to BigBear tomorrow.

There was rain and thunder storms going on out there today with flash flood warnings. Supposed to cool down to approx 78* out there. But I can only imagine how much hotter that humidity will make it feel.

Either way I'm still anxious to go. All 3 of us are locked front and rear. Ruben and Mark's trucks are both running Dual cases and winches. So they are definitely set. Alao they both running 35's and to my 33" tires. But we all have armor. Ant I really really hope we have what it tales to handle the trails in case it gets nasty out there. Never wheeled in the rain. I'd imagine it sucking so hopefully it doesn't. But if it does I hope we get some awesome pix. Charging up the camera battery so I can snap a bunch of shots. For you guys.

So I threw on the good ol' off-road BFG m/t tire/steel wheel combo. And went grocery shopping and bought some spare motor belts in case something ever happened. Plus I should have one in my truck at all times anyway.
