Took the runner for a trip last evening to pick up some 4.3swap parts for my 87 truck that im sas'ing. Rann great especially against a 30mph headwind at 70mph just had to use the o/d button every once and a while on the hills. BUT, when i got into the city with stoplights it wouldnt idle worth a dang until i feathered the gas a lil then it would come out of it.

Then this morning ii started it and the idle will continuously surge from 1000 to 1800 rpm like theres a ghost sitting in the drivers seat ever so slightly revving the engine. Maybe i can use my girls iphone and take a good vid of what its doing to get some opinions.

Glad you got those parts off if rich. I have a dust shield to give you that he forgot to.

That weird on the idle. You replaced that tps with another one already right? And problem stayed the same or changed?

How is the Dashpot or the little plunger that the throttle assembly sits on? I seen it cause issues.

And

Well before i left to work today i noticed oil under my runner and popped the hood to find my oil cap was missing and oil had spewed all over my engine!!! I put a little oil in it yesterday and apparently didnt put it back on!! I was excited and in a hurry to get my parts and must have forgot to put it on!!Damnit. I found the oil cap melted to the exhaust manifold (and it was one of the original cool ones with the toyota sig on it with crosshatches)double damnit. I checked the oil level in it and it was about a qaurt and a half low. I filled it up and proceeded to complain as i scrubbed it down with a rag soaked with some gas. Its freezing cold here and i wont powerwash it when i know it will just freeze.

So anyways it was a major dumba$$ attack and now that my oil cap is melted it will be a heads up reminder to put it back on next time!!

Hey Mark i was actually researching advance adapters and i seen theres a dustsheild that i was missing so thats great news that you have it!!Thanks to Rich for hooking me up on those parts!!!And yes i did replace the tps but it acts the same.stilll idles high.

Hey Terry what do you mean by "dashpot"? And yes the plunger isnt sticking. I think with all the oil on my primary and secondary ignition system caused a major role on the missing and studdering idle. Its running good now.

The dash pot it the little vacuum looking think that hangs off Of your throttle body.

But I don't remember seeing one on yours. Maybe it's different since it's an automatic.

I was thinking the Dashpot was the whole assembly from the plunger to the hose with the little filter on the end. I could be wrong on that. I have had problems with the plunger getting sticky or just not moving correctly.

Tires are yours buddy!!! Can't wait to see them on your runner. I think they will fit just fine with your rims. Maybe a little trimming. But will fit

92 2wd im doin a fuel pump on. decided the bed was easier to remove than possibly rounding off or twisting the steel fuel line.Much easier to work with when the beds removed however ive done it the other way as well. Found a hole in the frame behind the tank on the inside, not to bad compared to some so ill try and cut out the rot and peice in and weld a patch. This body and box are extremely clean and rust free and they guy only paid $500!!!

I have found some cheap pumps off of ebay that work well and never had a problem with them. The ones I used are no longer available but sure there are others out there. Glad to see I am not the only one that has to deal with rusty tanks.lol

Tire make a big difference on your runner. Looks great.

I just looked at the new tire pics on the computer for the first time. Previously on my phone. I can't get over how much more clearance it looks like you have from that front pic.

33's make it look a lot more aggressive, I like the new stance, it looks tough! Your going to have to change your signature now, lol.
