Kevin88's PU build

Hey guys and gals,

Just bought this 1988 pickup 4x4 last night and drove it 250 miles home. Vehicle is originally from Arizona, 22RE, 223,000 miles.

I'm new to off-road but not new to fixing automobiles by myself. When I turned 16 I purchased a 1994 honda civic ex manual and turbocharged it, rebuilt the trans and later cut out the rear quarter panels and made it rust free with new paint. i've done fuel system, brakes, trans, motor rebuilds, head rebuilds, turbos, clutch, axels, ball joints, interior, electrical, you name it. My Ag Engineering degree from U of Illinois also exposed me to quite a bit of diesel and now I'm starting as a diesel engineer for John Deere.

I'm here to read, learn and get opinions. Enough talk here are the pictures...

and my Honda civic journey...

I think i'm going to first tackle the interior with new carpet, door panels, and seats. Any suggestions are welcome and appreciated.

Thanks,
Kevin

5 hours later I have the hose removed, a new one installed and figured I'd replace the thermostat while I'm at it and then...

removed the broken stud.

started going deeper into the interior for cleaning.

brought up the carpet and noticed a lot of fluid. clutch master cylinder leaking at the rod end into the cab. Floor board has been soaking in brake fluid for who knows how long.

That should help. So your installing amber bulbs? Brighter or what? Never heard of them.

I didn't buy a kit. I figured I would learn more if I pieced it together myself. I was also able to buy what I wanted. It was twice as expensive though.

I see you painted your interior. What kinda paint did you use? Have you used this paint before? Does it hold up good? Is it cleanable (armor all). How did you prep it?

Been thinking of painting mine that's why I'm curious.

Got the truck running tonight. It's holding its temp and doesn't leak any fluid, clutch line oil or coolant!

LEDs arriving on Thursday
