You are doing a great job on your truck. Liked what you did to the Honda. Doing the panel replacements is where I hope to get to someday, so yes I am a little envious of you, jk.

Where you showed the bedliner out of the back of your truck, I would suggest pulling the side panel as well. Most of the bolts will most likely break on you, but when ou get the panels out, you wll more then likely find alot of dirt built up in front and behind the fenders. That is where you find the biggest cause of rust in these beds.

Looking forward to your build.

i'll start soaking them in PBblaster then, thanks for the heads up!

i'm getting antsy waiting to finish the truck floor before putting the dash back in. imagining what will be in the living room...

there is a custom interior body shop in town and i'm going to see if they can restore the dash pad back to crack-free with black vinyl. still haven't been able to find an unmolested center console trim pieces so its going to be grey for now. also going to keep the grey AC vents because they would be a PITA to try and paint.

LOL it's like that little car console toy thing by fisher price all you're missing is a steering wheel! and you can vrrrroom in the living room

Poke around on the net some a DIY recover is totally doable. Heat gun or hair dryer and some contact cement and triming tools.

Doing the vents isn't that bad assuming they don't shatter, I did one I salvaged but wound up with some broken pieces. Fortunately I didn't really need the housing since it was a later 4runner model it was missing one of the screw holes, so I just put the louver into the truck housing to replace the missing one. These are ABS so you can just do "rit dye + acetone" and don't actually have to take them apart just articulate them some to get them all over, but you're limited in color choices to pretty much black or black.

Looking forward to the after photos. Just a quick question about the floor spray, is that a rubber or vinyl product, the 3m stuff?

ended up being 2 coats of primer (2 cans)
1 thick coat of 3m rubberized undercoating (4 cans)
1 coat of spray on bed liner (1 can)

Hopefully I'll get the interior back in this weekend!

Looking great man. Had a leak in the same spot on my runner and it was coming from the space under the wiper cowl right I front of the winshield. Have to access it with the passenger fender off.

The 3m spray looks great. Did you get it in red they spray black over? I usually get the white can of 3m undercoating from the paint store and its usually black.

Seriously looking great man.

3m and bed liner are both black. primer was red/orange.

I'll look into the cowl area. I also have some windshield rust in the lower passenger side A pillar and a torn harness firewall boot. All possible options

Hmmm can I ask why you didn't go all the way up to the headliner with the rust stuff?

Looks great though! Definitely looking like something for my floors after I fix my problem spot

sorry, didn't see this till now.

because i don't think the cabs really rust out around the rear window. also wanted to rubberize the back of the cab for when i throw stuff back there so it doesn't chip paint and i figured the window was a good place to stop. i think it looks pretty clean/factory
