Hello Jason.. If there are 50 different people on here, there will be 50 different ways to install your motor. But thought I would post how I did mine and maybe others will chime in and have some tips others of us may not know about.

I do 99% of mine by myself as my odd days off and working nights. So I have to work safe. I set a floor jack under the tranny and try to get it level as possible, then I the cherry picker and motor as close to the tranny as possible and when it is 4-6 inches away from being connected I take 2 long bolts and nuts and run them through on each side of of tranny and motor, with the nuts on tranny side. These bolts are about 5 inches long and a little larger then a pencil.

For 2 reasons, one is helps keep everything inline and two if something goes wrong it wont let the engine and tranny move much keeping me safe. Once I start getting real close I can straddle the motor (frame, if I remember right) with some coordination and I am able to see the top and two sides of the motor, and with an imagianray line and seeing how the bolt holes line up I got it on the second try. Scary!!!lol Getting the Transmission Shaft into the Pilot Bearing is the biggest problem.

As I get closer I am able to tighten the nuts with my fingers, but leave some play in them.
Bolts will keep the back of the motor and engine mounts will keep the front of the motor
movement limited and I have full control. Not saying my way is right, but by myself it works.

I know I talked to you about this, but to help others as I did this also. My little saying of "Necessaries first, luxuries last" on the motor. Electric, water and oil, parts go on first. Luxuries last, will keep you from putting the Power Steering on before the alternator. I did that and my little saying works for me.

Like Chef said, the fuel injectors connections ar BRITTLE!!!, Some things we have learned the hard way might save you some frustrations. If I can remeber some other tips or tricks will post for you. Maybe others have little tricks that we can all learn from.

Just remembered another trick I learned from 92Toy. On the wire clips on the injectors, I used a finishing nail or heavy paper clip, but Jerry suggeste using Hemostats. You have a lot better contol of them wires. It works.

Thanks for all the advice Terry I actually pulled engine and tranny together and planed on putting it back in that way. I'm really hoping I can round up some help atleast to get it all back down in the engine compartment I have nightmares about scratching up my new paint in there before I ever hear it run LOL, I will be looking to you guys for more advice as this goes along I'm sure.

If you can slap em in together, VOILA! You wont scratch anything, ....just TAKE ALL DAY if need be, ...and remember, once it goes in.... having to get it back out is where it will more likely scratch. Mine is an electric/hydraulic lift.... so it's BOUNCY! grrr! lol. But I love having it, not complaining. lol.

Just TRIPLE CHECK on the clutch hardware, input shaft seal, ...all that crap that you don't want to have to mess with, later, ya know?

You'll do fine, Jason,...you've done plenty of this stuff on other cars... You got this!(Most everyone has a 'glitch' or 'OOPS' or so when doing these.... it's totally normal! lol.

BTW, I too had a lil drama getting the shaft to finally get in the pilot... but alas, it worked when I finally realized I had to 'START' the bolts, etc. Don't forget to grease that lil sucker! WHICH REMINDS ME.......... I'ma have to get a new pilot bearing!!!!! Mine is in my PIECE OF CRAP crank that I wont be re-using. Thanks for bringing that up, Terry!!!! lol.

I agree with taking your time with it. Heck I spent hours in my garage this afternoon and was only just tinkering. Then again, I like to stop and stare at my truck a lot, lol. just remember, good things take time! the longer a project takes, the greater the feeling of accomplishment! Can't wait for pics Jason!

Thanks NV just feels painfully slow LOL. A lot of it is my own fault for lack of organization from the beginning I spend a lot of time hunting for bolts etc.

Noticed a couple things yesterday, both wires for the oil sending unit and the Nock sensor are broke off at the plug I need to know which wire goes were also my new oil pressure unit has two connections on it a button style on the end and a blade style to the side is this right or do I have the wrong switch?

I'm just doing a drive by! Bye! lol. Jk, actually, I will check back and take pics, whatever you need, later, k? I'm on my way back to pick up my head, HOPEFULLY soon! lol. He just gave the bottom of it a TINY polish, ... (couple rough edges)....and then he's slappin it together when he gets back with the springs. (NERVOUS! lol)

Far as the oil pressure sending unit.... The SR5? for the Gauge? It's a single wire/connection apparatus. It plugs on perpendicular to the insertion of the sender, by sliding on the female connector onto the botton on the tip. It SHOULD have a rubber boot around it, but doesn't HAVE to I guess.

Thanks Dutch I'm really hoping things go smooth I know there will be so hickups hopefully no big set backs. I really want this stage done.

Up date on my ticket in Cali, reduced way down I know its Not really part of my build but for the $ it has cost me its played a big part in slowing it down.
Hope everybody is having a good week.

hey Jason...
ahhh yes, the hunt for bolts. I do the "what the hell was I talking about when I labeled this" part alot. mostly the stuff kinda sorts itself out, but yes, there is some frantic searching that goes on here as well.

like I just was saying on Terry's thread, it's the attention to detail that will shine through. and don't be discouraged by the time factor. I don't think there's a bigger putz here than me....I am my own worst enemy

otherwise hope all is well, I apologize for not being able to check in frequently, have definitely lost alot of my old self recently and am adjusting to the new me as well as everyone else is too.
