Glad to share something. I've gotten a lot from your ideas. Enjoy the new seats!

thanks mark. now i need to let the seats dry before i can install 'em. you wouldn't believe the crap that came out of them. bleh.

(this is why you clean your seats. everyone, do it. or sit in it... it's up to you)
DAYUNNNNNG! LOL.... That's nasty! Yeah, my Scion tC seats looked really clean and STILL made water like that! Half of that crap is dead skin, the other half?????? EXACTLY, HUMAN SWEAT AND FILTH! lol. Nice job, man!

They are Second Gen......The outside panel and levers are slightly different(You can't put the reclining lever from a 1st Gen onto a 2nd gen, the fabric design is second gen, more narrow than the 1st gen at the waist/bolsters....plus more....) ...... Also, the 2nd Gen seats bolster-riser goes all the way to the top of the seat..... Here's my first gen, notice how the bolster stops at the shoulders?(this helps me because I have really wide shoulders, so my scapula were rubbing on the 2nd gen seat bolsters/The driver seat in this pic doesn't have a cover, so you can really see what I mean)..........

PS> My headrests are 89 Camry Headrests..... WAY more cushy, support neck better, MUCH better bottom housing/click-adjust support and construction(so the padding wont fall out all over)..... CHEAP ass heck at the Pick-your-part.... Problem?>>> Most head rest covers that come in the seat cover kits don't fit them.... but they're so well build I don't care! lol.

pics!

problem:

solution:

i used the seat-belt bolt for the rear

and in...

the only thing i'm not too happy with is how far forward the seat is. it's all the way back in that picture, and it could stand to go back a few more inches. my dad suggested that i could weld something to make it work, so i thought: yes, i could cut off the mounting tabs and weld on some extensions to get it where i want it. wouldn't be too hard to do, either.

so that's it for now. i'll drive around with it like that for a while, but i'd like to get it evened out.

and so far, 35 cents have fallen out of the new seats. woo!

Yeah, .....the 4Runner Seats of the same years are different due to being more sunken than the pu's and different at the console.... That looks for sure to be around a 90-92 4Runner Seat, ....... and, I mean, Toyota would have already had holes for them to fit were they 'PU' seats, not 4Runner seats, right? Your original was a bench,..so I guess you'd have to find someone with your gen PU and measure front-front tabs/rear-rear, etc....

I think they definitely have different "all the way forward" and "all the way back" settings than the pick up rails, too, eh? Geesh... that sucks, but DANG THEY LOOK GOOD! lol. You'll get it! No doubt!

I put my awful red 1st gen buckets in my 92 for a road trip. Could only fit two bolts on the drivers and one on the passenger, and it originally had a bucket also.

I spray my seats down with Simple Green and scrub them with a pad or bristle brush and then take them to the carwash. You see alot of gunk come out of them.

If you want another big surprise. Do the same thing to your carpet. This is usually a summertime project and I usually allow two or three days for it to dry. It makes the interior smell real fresh. I do this when I buy any new/used truck to me.

I like those seat covers that Chef is showing. Trying to get upholstry done isnt cheap. I may be checking into 2nd Gen seats myself.

The front mounting holes/body nuts are there under the carpet on the front "rail" on the pick-ups to allow for the different seat styles across all models... the inner rear ones however are another story you can use the seatbelt mounting bolt to attach the seat to the floor. if you look on the tranny hump above the seat bolt you should see a little circular sticker covering the location where you need to drill through the floor to attach the seatbelt.

The seat tracks on the trucks are longer then those on a 4 dr runner to allow for access to the rear. However if you get the seats out of a 2 dr runner they are a direct drop in as they are longer for the same reason.

Nice job, ...as usual, lol.

So, can I ride in the camper around the campsites? You drive and I'll hang on! hahaha. Jk, seriously, you're going to be SO HAPPY you have that thing/that you spent the effort to fix it all up! Shweet, lol.

after looking at it today, i realized i don't have much left to do to make it camp-able. heck, if i just hang the canvas, i could put a tarp over the top and sleep in it like that (temporarily, that is). i'm reeeeally looking forward to warmer weather when i can work on this thing.
