Don't forget to take out the throwout bearing. You might need a press to get it out of the fork. I just took the fork to pepboys to have done. Cost me a whopping $12 to have them do it. And unlike me, don't forget to grease it during install.

My pleasure, Ian... coming along well!

Brandon is right, that can be a bear. I did it by simply using proper sized sockets and a piece of wood.... BING, BING, BING w/a hammer, tapping around the edges of the socket, and voila, it fell into the other socket within a few raps(Ok, maybe it was more like 20). At 12$ I guess I should have maybe tried that... But I was deep into the costs by then, just wanted the thing done and convinced myself I could do it, lol.

(Hmmm, I'm trying to remember EXACTLY how I did it,... I will look it up, maybe bring you a pic or two if I can find it)

Hmnmmm, this is what I posted in my build thread, AGES ago, lol........

"The T.O. Bearing had to come off that sleeve, and the book calls for 2-3 jaw puller(not the best idea, lol), so I went down to Kragen for their 50% off tools sale, got a 1 3/16's socket and a 32mm socket, pounded the old bearing off, and then pounded the new one on" .......... I think what I didn't mention there, Ian, is that pounding it off was much of "back and forth from side to side" with the tapping... til it came off. I didn't care about the original because I was replacing it with a new OEM one. Anyhow, it worked getting it on with those sockets, over a piece of wood, as I mentioned. I think I used the notches on the sleeve to hold it up on the 2 pieces of wood... then rapped on the bearing from the back, side to side until it came off. Putting it on I turned it over, but it would be best with a vice and the sockets.

Best wishes, man!

I've never had a problem with removing the throw-out bearing.
The real fun is in the pilot.

Patience grasshopper, I've done four that way. It takes time and the key is a punch gues large enough to not let out much water.

Pretty sure I used a 3/8" ratchet extension.

I think I used a 1/4" drive 3/16" socket on mine, and lots and lots of paper.
