Yeah, I was having clearance issues with the center steering link hitting the oil pan, and with the left exhaust manifold contacting the steering shaft.

I did install a 2" body lift.

Now there is a ton of room for both. I originally left the A/C compressor in there, but even after the engine lift it still hit the steering coupler.

The hood closes just fine, and still has about an inch or more of room before contacting.

I hoping that with a 1" diff spacer and a little clearancing/notching of the oil pan I can fit it without a body lift.

It looks like you have the LS oil filter location still, are you still able to pull the filter off and not hit the frame?

It's the SC oil filter housing. And yeah, I can get it on and off just fine.

Thanks guys. Talk about an exciting day.

I can't run it for very long, since I haven't had time to get the radiator modified. But, it doesn't seem to want to idle. Honestly, I only have a couple wires connected, so I didn't expect it to be perfect. Just the main ignition power wires at EB1 and EB2, and another down by the ECU. I also connected the tach wires, oil pressure (got a new sending unit for the 22RE, it threaded right in.) and water temp. I still need to get to the check engine light, 4WD light, the reverse lights and get rid of the old A/T lights.

Still a ton to do...

I was able to get out to a buddies house tonight who has a ton of driveshafts. I measured 47" 3/4 from flange to flange at 6 o'clock with the truck on the ground. My stock shaft was 43" fully compressed, front the A/T. We measured a few, and found one that was 47" 1/2 fully compresses. So, I got that in tonight, along with the tcase mount adapter. I dont like the way it fits, but its in there anyway. I'll get the tcase mount kit from NWOffRoad when she gets the SAS.

Oh, and I picked up an 88' V6 pickup power steering pressure hose. RMA was right. This hose fits perfect, and it has to be a 2nd gen V6 pressure hose. Much cleaner fit and no messing around. A couple tweaks on the hard lines to make it look like factory. It even clears the oil filter. Put some fluid in, and got the steering working, just like RMA said it would.

I'm going to take the radiator over to a place called Havlick's this week, and get that handled. Then the exhaust goes on. I'm still up in the air about the exhaust. I'm thinking a 2 1/4 y-pipe into a 3" cat and a 3" magnaflow muffler, or a flowmaster 50 series... What say you guys?

the bad news...
I think not rebuilding the starter is coming back to kick me square in the nut sack. It wouldn't crank a few times today. I frickin knew I was being cheap by leaving it alone. Damnit

I'm not sure what the shaft came out of. He had 30 of them behind his shop. The auto trans is longer than the R150, and the original shaft was too short.

Turns out a friend of mine is a hell of an aluminum guy. He made these necks out of billet round stock. Looking good!

I got to drive it out of the shop today too. The clutch is really light, but engages nice.
I temporarily fixed the idle by adjusting the throttle stop, but I'll get back into the wiring and get it right once this radiator is in.

A friend took a short video of the truck being moved from the parking lot into the shop.

I found a factory one at a buddy's place. Measured 47 1/2" or something like that.

Depending on how you do your engine mounts, yours may be different.

I still don't know, lol. I guessing could google driveshaft lengths of all 2nd and 3rd gen configurations and tell ya what it came out of, for reference.

Although, it's doesn't quite matter. Your engine mounts may have the engine placed slightly more forward or rearward than mine.

Got the radiator back just a few minutes ago. Gonna go pop it in tomorrow morning. I'm gonna use a section of a Subaru hose for the upper and try to use most of the oem Lexus hose for the lower.

I installed the radiator this morning. Looks like there is a small pinhole leak at the lower radiator neck. I think I'll just fill it with some JBweld. (Shhh, don't tell anyone! lol)

The power steering was a flippin bitch to purge the air out of, but I thik I got it.

I couldn't resist a trip to the gas station to put some more in the tank. It was almost bone dry when I started the swap. Man it felt good to drive it again.

I can't wait to get some exhaust on it. Open header is just not my style... Plus, I'll feel a bit better about revving it with a bit more back pressure in the system.

It also looks like I can fit a 16" pusher fan in front of the radiator. I'll be ordering that today, along with a nice controller for the fan.
