I guess the 5 years I spent writing service at an exhaust shop makes me not want to do it at all if I can't do it "right". (i.e. hydraulic bender, nice Mig welder, etc)

The funny thing is that the shop I used to work for doesn't want to touch it, claiming that it's not "emission legal"... Whatever.

Although, their lead tech has a 92' Xtra Cab with a supercharged 3.4 swap, and he installed the engine and built his system there.

Lookie what showed up today! 2500 CFM. I will get this installed tonight, and the transfercase shifter.

I also came across the proper speedo drive for my cable speedometer!

I'll get it down for the exhaust tomorrow night. I can't wait to drive this thing home this weekend.

The transmission I got was from a 93 V6 SR5 pickup, so it had an electronic VSS. I converted to the cable style drive at the trans.

I haven't even touched any of the wires for the PRNDL connector yet.

Yeah, it's the large one. I'll send you a picture in the morning.

I have no idea what it's worth... Shoot me an offer.

And I think you are right, as far as I knew they all went to an electronic VSS in 92. IIRC the gauge face design changed just a bit too.

It is weird about the cable vs. electronic I have parted out several 4runners and all have had the auto matic from 92 thru 95 and I have had both versions. No rime or reason for why one has it one way or another.

My rig has the manuel tranny and is electronic.

The cable driven unit was out of a 94

Huh. Well, I just learned something new, thanks for the info. That's strange that they went back and forth with that.

Well, I finished the fan install tonight, and got it to cycle 8 or so times. She idled for an hour. I only had minor trimming to do on the crossbrace just behind the front bumper.

Also put in the tcase shifter and rubber boot plate. Then installed the speedo drive and threaded the cable in.

Damn phone wont let me edit the last post for the pics. So here they are...

Oh, and I got the front shaft in. It was about 3/4" too long. I just cut an inch off the splines of the yoke and took out the zirk fitting to let the grease out as I compressed it. Then it bolted right up. There is still about a quarter inch before it bottoms out, should be ok while its still IFS.

Yup, I'm not happy with it at all. But, it will get me up to my Uncle's place so we can build something better. I'll still keep it around in case I get another reduction box though.

I didn't realize how far forward the plate would sit. I think I might fit mine and then cut and weld the end on closer to the mounts. Then paint it black. The color and amount of material just sittin there does look funky.

I have both A/T and M/T crossmembers and tried them both. I ended up using the A/T crossmember to get it to fit like it is. There was no way at all to get any bolts in with the other one.

I think a small section of 2x6 box steel will fit the bill nicely after some work on a drill press. Plus, it will give me the height I need without those stupid washers in there.

I drove it down to the exhaust shop tonight. It feels like the clutch is slipping.

I always thought the pedal felt light, and since I used the KS Racing clutch, I have no idea what kind it is beyond an Aisin brand.
They said it's a 10.5 inch. Anyone have an idea of a better pressure plate I can get?

edit:
I searched KS Racings website and found a fourm for technical support. There is a thread with all the photos about the kit I bought. No wonder the communication stops after purchase. If its on the web, they dont want to have to answer questions all day.

http://www.ksracing.net/forums/index.php?topic=30328.0

The same pressure plate pictured is the one I have.

That is not encouraging news man. I was planning on buying the whole lot form them as well. I would not be happy if the clutch was slipping. I have read that you need a 2100 lb clutch. I didn't see anywhere what the rating was for the clutch. Do you know what the size of the 3.4 plate it? I was wondering if it interchanges. This is the only thing that scares me about buying the whole kit. What to do once the clutch needs replaced.
