I know very well what you've been dealing with in regards to corrosion, ....been watching, with great admiration, for quite a while!

I'm really sorry bout the pain! Freaking relentless and persistent drama it's put you through,.....and I gotta say, ... you're quite the trooper, Will!

ok welding done ground them flat wirewheeled off the stick welding residue an painted also polished the chrome sprayed oil down the inside of the mounts to help hold off any further rust which was flaking an falling out even after i painted things (i used the hammer an air gun to knock out much as i could)

this shows where i stopped the black paint the back of the chrome bumper was flaking an rusted in spots SO there we go

all polished up

today called martin crawler told um what went down my shifter boot should be in the post today said to me give the seats to a friend use the stickers if i want it'd cost too much to get them returned.. i looked at the white seat list an heck! it'll fit the lady's 90! but i doubt she'd like the stiffness

took John into town (he cant drive a stick) and the kids for icecream i finally caught the local muffler shop open stopped in to check how much for 2inch all the way out O2 bung and flowmaster muffler the lady whos hubby runs the shop said about 200 for a full exhaust system SO now i know how much i need to save up

anyone interested in the factory rear speaker mounts/hangers? i pulled them from my panels when i put the 6x9's in

Bumper is looking better. Not a bad of a price for a complete exhaust and to have it new all the way thru with it. That key was flared on my crankshaft and I will be making a trip to Toyota soon to get that fixed. Thanks!!!

sample test of paint primers rusty an clean steel

ive been watching this guy "the hack an pack shop" yes he's done the spray foam thing an admits it hates doing it but he also does repairs in a real world not like hotrod magazine or trucks! which find brand new steel... an have unlimited budgets

this panel of steel spent all winter outside frozen off an on in ice salt runoff it shows various prep paint primer choices an what is now failing an winning

I think most slide it over after pulling the shifter out the trans and then socket and bushing in and shifter and slide the boot back down over. I'm not sure if that screws but I would imagine if it does its going to give you one hell of a problem with all the rust you have had. I'm just not 100 percent sure on that one.

Just remove the 6 bolts and the whole cover will come off. No need to remove the rubber boot. Leave the shifter in the metal plate/cover. I wont be home til tomorrow evening and I can get you a picture then if you want to wait and see what you are getting into.

well what i did was pulled the quare rubber boot off to do the shifter seat an ball the square boot tore it cant come off the bottom of the shaft due to the flange an ball so was thinking the upper black part of the handle has to unscrew

My understanding is that you were wanting to remove the rubber boot at the base of the shifter, attached to the trans 6 bolt housing. You have a replacement right? I thought you already inserted the socket find new bushing ?

yes, as you can see in this picture from left to right
shifter handle square boot retainer plate a rounded plate that slides inside the retainer plate the spring that pushes the ball into the side pins an then the ball end

what ive been asking is the black handle end does it unscrew? the parts you see on the shifter have to get on there somehow but the black handle is way too big for them to 'slide' on

seat's been replaced with the red one from martin crawler the ball end as well which rich warned me to make sure it popped on good and thats working fine the square boot got tore

Yeah my guess is still that it does... I believe you need a vice some leather and pipe wrench.
