^^^haha that pic reminds me of a few years ago when I picked up my wife and a had a transfer case in the backseat of her car, she about pooped a brick
Did you end up trimming the horse collar? Seems like running a strip of material over the top to strengthen it would not hurt after a chop.
I plan on doing a Ford tank in my 4Runner and using a transfer pump from the Ford tank to the stock Toyota tank and won't worry about having a gauge for it..

Playing around with the interior the other day. Trying to see how I can still use it with the extra shifter.

The old leather boot is trashed. I threw a shifter extension on the rear stick. I'm not sure if I like it or not. Would definitely be a clean look with new leather and I'd hafta do a custom boot for the back one, but the knob gets real close to the console in 4hi. Maybe just use the front piece, adapt a cupholder tray to it somehow and ditch the arm rest console.
I found a pretty legit ford tank swap write up finally. I will share it here:

Headed to KC for the weekend. Peace!

Oh Yes!!! Glad you made it there!!
Yes ED. We got them from a tire distributor in Firth, NE.

Even with an online purchase that is shipped, they are very very inexpensive.

Remember back on build page 3 when I painted that rim? It looked good but, I changed my mind. I don't wanna deal with future scratches and chips. So I'm removing it.

I'm using a gel paint thinner from home depot. Works alright. Gonna hafta sand a bit. Glad I only painted one!

I have a sand blast booth if you want to clean that thing up.

While I'm shortening the rear driveshaft to work with the dual cases I'm upgrading as well. I bought a front driveshaft off Craigslist a while ago to steal the CV from.

Used the ol' paper taped on the pipe trick for a straight cut. Burned the CV onto the shortened pipe and sprayed some paint. Oh and a picture of a beer. Because beer.

Might work more on the runner tomorrow.

My passenger drum brake was seized up bad. I've never worked on drum brakes before. It was real difficult to get the cover off. Sprayed PB in the stud holes. Wacked and pried it off. Hurt my back somehow.

But its off. Im seriously considering a disc conversion. Found a thread using 2001 montero sport rotors and calipers. Seems easy enough. Eff drum brakes.
I'm going to the junkyard this week on a Montero hunt. My new 15x10 wheels come in Tuesday. Mounting my tires Wednesday.

Seriously if I find brake calipers today I'm doing the swap. Their inventory says they have one 2001 montero sport. Exactly the vehicle I need. I'm taking that as a sign from God and going after work.
