My front seals are leaking on my 85 and I have never done anything on a solid axle. I am hoping it is easy to work on. How was your experience with it?

Challenging at first cause i was in the same boat, but now i could do it twice as fast. I say the first time take your time, i watched a youtube vid that was a teardown and install on a landcruiser axle, a little different than your 85 but for the most part the same.

So i was looking into front ranges tacoma brake swap kit and i was really looking into getting it until it said i have to swap the knuckles from side to side cause the tacoma calipers mount on the front. I really dont wanna swap the knuckles after ive already got the axle this far, does this make sense??Anyone familiar with this kit?

Looking good buddy.

I understand why you do not want to swap them. One good thing is you can wait to do this till you are ready. It's not like something that's easier to do now than later.

You could wheel it for awhile, then when you tear into it again to say, fix a birfield or something, swap them then.

Helped a freind re-do his frame tubes on his sas due to them being severly crooked and causing his allpro leaf packs to come apart and as well as severe drivability problem. We used the good old peice of conduit to run through the new tubes to get them lined up and theyre good to go!! He needed help and in return he will weld my sas!!Thanks Ryan!!

I cant wait until I can get me a welder. I envy you guys that do all the welding. Not sure I will ever be brave enough to do a SAS. Don't think I would trust my welds that much. Looking good.

I think scuba went this route. Taco calipers still mount to the rear, but you need the factory tabs out of the way. Why do you want the taco calipers? You could just run the 89-95 v6 calipers on the solid axle without buying a kit, or just a little drilling/grinding to make them work with IFS Hubs. Mounting the caliper to the other side of the factory ears does the same thing as the FORR Kit.
