You are along a lot of progress with this truck. It's going to be a nasty rig when it's done.
Thanks man,yes I'll definetly sell the rest of the jimmy to buy more parts for the build, and those springs are yours.

Nice score on the shackles. I have always wondered what all was involved in doing a motor swap with a domestic motor to a Toyota tranny. The 4.3 is a great little motor and quite powerful for a 6 cylinder.

Thanks Terry, domestic to Toyota all depends on the details.efi...more $$$ but more dependable,carbd....cheaper to build.

I really cant see a carb setup being that much cheaper if you do most of the work yourself, unless your converting a carb'd motor into efi. The only part of my swap I don't plan to do myself is the PCM reprogramming. Im going to do all my wiring (or at least attempt to lol)

So my 4.3 has a crank sensor ignition system....therefore has no adjustable timing, however the Howell aftermarket harness will require going back k to the adjustable earlier distributor... guess that means I have to swap timng covers to so I can have a reference point.by the way there's no way to use the factory computer or harness,or modify it either that I've found so far.what a pain.

Well, its because the donor was a late 95 CPI setup with the black vcm under the hood,if you go later than that,or earlier than that on the CPI your in better shape. Using Howells harness will make my engine like the early CPI setup. This will require changing the crank trigger and cam sensor distributor to the earlier 87-94 electronic distributor.I should be able to find one of them easily in the junkyard. Now maybe if I utilized the auto tranny from the donor (which I still have) I could use the factory harness and vcm.but I really want the 5spd w56 beings I have all the adapter hardware.

So why can't you use the harness and computer you have the the toy trans? Just remove all the trans wiring and have someone program the computer to work with that. Might want to check out LT1swap.com

I will, but Howell said the black vcm under the hood is not reprogrammable.

Anyone ever tried running a fuel injected pump and housing in a carbd fuel tank?? I know the f.I tank has a square box in the bottom compared to the carbd tank.
