It is like you said about the power. You can't beat it. Also a pretty reliable engine. Using a CPI does require some pcm work or a 40 tooth ring and speed sensor to run right. The axle is coming out nice man. I am using a 10 bolt because I have it and all bearings and gears. High steer is no problem I have a knuckle for it. Enjoy seeing what y'all are doing.

That is a good looking Blazer. That is another truck I have thought about looking into fix as they are really popuar. These Toyotas are just getting so hard to find around here. Blazers and S-10s are a dime a dozen around here and have good aftermarket support. I am just looking at fixing an selling them. Use the Chevies to supprot my Toyotas. Looks like you are making progress.

Moved the 87 in the shop today in the rain. Managed to take apart the passenger side hub, brakes, swaybar, shock, steering etc. Trying to decide if i can just go at it and start cutting or if i should br more careful and try and salvage the stock brackets that are welded to frame if theyre worth anything to anybody...I guess id like to just start cutting but i thought id get some input and do some research also.

You can pretty much start cutting and smoothing off all of it. Take your time and don't thin out the frame. You will need new shock mounts anyway and the four places it ties in to the frame are unnecessary. Sawzaw and a good grinder.

Yeah the pcm on the CPI uses vss(vehicle speed sensor) to control a lot of things like idle, fuel trim, egr, and so on. Jagsthatrun.com make a few options for it. I am not sure who does it but supposedly you can have your pcm reprogrammed to get rid of the issue

I say just cut it off. I think the only stuff worth saving is the aisin hubs. Torch off and smooth out with a grinder and a flap wheel.

Okay I made a little diagram here. All the stuff in purple on the left picture can be cut off. I cut along the red line on the left picture. Then on the right picture, I folded the blue outlined portion out 90 degrees and cut by the red line again. Then you will grind that weld down. The orange box on the first picture is the spot that you will need to weld a piece of flat in to box it back shut. Hope this helps!

Dunno if i have the spacers in the correct spot, also the tubes are just mocked up,i still need to make sure theyre sqaure with the world before i weld them. Also i guess they get cut off flush with the frame??

Here you can see the angle of my shackles...ive seen them in different positions so i do not no if mine are setting good or bad?I also have the hangar a half inch over. I placed the tubes towards the front of the body mount. Also i still have to box in the motor mount/uca bracketry.

Spring hangar moved half inch forward. Also seems to be alot of excess thread on my pins.

Right side
I used a torch and a metabo to do the cutting..i prefer the metabo myself.
As for the jigs i moved them forward inside the cab mount and used a 1 3/4 hole saw. Made for a nice snug fit with room for making sqaure.

You don't have to cut the tubes off that get welded into the frame. And you won't be able to tell anything about your shackle angle until the full weight of the truck (with engine) is on the springs.... You'll be fine though. You're not doing anything different than the typical sas...............Did you get your 220V hooked up?

Someday I would like to have a plasma cutter. Bet it would make a SAS swap easier. Hope the weekend treats you good and you make some great progress.

Looks good. And like joe said you don't have to cut the tubes. If you look at mine they stick out from the frame at least an inch.
You made some serious progress!
