is it the IFS locking hubs your taking about? if so somebody (I think Marlin and TG) make inner hub gears that converts them to the correct number of splines, can't remember what they cost tho...

you can get the conversion gears from Davez. You can either use your entire solid front axle lock out hubs, our you need to get the special conversion gear to make IFS hubs work on a Solid Axle.

Truck looks great.

Sell those babies. I always snag the hubs at the yard if I have time. Can manage to get both sides totally off in about 20 minutes with the right tools while I'm there.

Your shackles will sag a little more once you cycle the suspension a bit (300-500 miles). Mine was sitting so high when I did the SAS that I was mad because I could've easily fit 40's, but now it's settled about 1 to 1 1/2 inches. They were 5" springs that raised it 7" right after the installation.

I'm going to have to keep an eye on this thread. I want to do a sas on my 92, but not really feeling a motor swap seeing as i just put a new 22re in it. So the ifs hubs (not the locking hubs, the knuckle I guess) bolts straight to the solid axle?

Great to hear you having it on the ground again. I made getting ready for winter a priority this year. Couldnt do anything last year and it will be here before you know it. Working in the cold and frozen is for the birds.

Totally right terry. And the rust will be forming before you know it. I might give oil coating my runner a shot this week

Nothing wrong with the 22re,great engine..I just found the parts to do the 4.3swap at a price I couldn't turn down.and yes,the ifs spindle mounts on the straight axle,or u can get the spacers.

I know ppl that have had a lot of problems with wheel spacers. That's why I was asking about the spindles.

I used to soak the entire undercarriage with ATF, then drive down my country roads immediately afterwards for a dozen miles to get a good coat of dust on everything, to keep the salt from setting directly on the frame and body. Now the undercarriage is all sand blasted and coated with POR-15, so I don't worry about it.

Tried getting banjo bolts for my calipers at the local Napa and they didn't have the right ones,so I went out to the garage and blocked up the rear end with cribbing and jackstands to get it level with the front and removed the rear end . I also bought a 84ex cab 4x4 from Kyleb for $500 for more parts, its set up with a 4.3 carbd and a th400 tranny with the 205 transfer case. It has practically new bilstein 5100s for the rear of my builld and that's where I got my extended s.s brake lines too.I'll post some pics of all the junk. Haha. On a good note my 87s frame is in really good shape, it also has 123k miles on the truck,my neighbor bought it new in 87.
