I understand completely. I felt the same way living in Australia. Growing up on the West Coast of Canada I'm used to green trees and grass. Beautiful mountains and lakes. Summers that are warm not blisteringly hot.
Most of all going to the pub without worry of getting the crap kicked out of me because of my "American" accent.
Welcome home Roni!

Hot places are nice for a visit. Some people love the heat and I think they are freaks just as much as they think I'm an idiot for loving snow.
Snow is awesome. I'm glad people don't like. It keeps Canada's population low so we have all this wide open space all to ourselves.
Not that I mind sharing of course. It's just nice to go places without people and rules keeping you from really exploring. You can't do squat in Europe for example without tripping over 50 people.
I met loads of new Australians that had a list of countries to choose from but ruled Canada out because they think of it as an arctic wasteland.
Come visit. There is a whole lot of nothing up here to get lost in. Plus because of the lumberjack stereotype Canadians earnt we have all kinds of logging roads no one uses anymore.
What kind of work are you doing out there? Are wages compatible to the cost of living? I know Vancouver isn't so much. I'd love to go home but the city costs so much. If we bought a house there the payments would be high enough to rule out wasting money on things like axles just because I found them.
When I watch those house shows I see where you moved from you can buy a good house for around 100k right? I assume Chicago isn't the same?
Are you going to go to any hockey games? I think seeing the Blackhawks in Chicago would be a pretty fun night out.

I feel your pain. I just went mudding yesterday and keep finding spots that the mid won't wash off of. Having those "after the fact regrets" but well worth the fun

the weather is starting to change here in Chicago. all of the parts that are not going to make it thru winter are starting to show. The Subaru needs a new starter, the 4 runner needs new wiper blades, and the pickup truck needs a new battery.I bought a new yellow top battery 4 the 4 runner and donated the old red top to the pickup truck.
the only wiper blades they had in stock were Bosch Evolutions. I was skeptical but they work great.here you can compare the 2 and see just how long I waited to get new ones!

The new yellow top Optima.

Thanks Mark. I have no way of keeping a block heater plugged in. I don't think it gets THAT cold in Chi. I would think a block heater is more for Canadian and Alaskan residents.....but then again I know very little about cold weather lol.

Its an FJ60. The 62 has four rectangle headlights and a factory gusseted front axle. I got a set of axles from one for cheap.
I think that they are so ugly that they are cool. Id love to have an FJ62 on 37"s. Ive seen a couple and think they would be an epic adventure wagon.
Rocker is it yours.

my apologies, it is a very cool. I own an 80 and am new to the cruiser scene. I love mine to death, now that I have fixed 90% of the PO stupidity. a little paint and polish and she will be awesome.

I love cruisers. I will own one at some point. Probably after I move back to Australia as they are everywhere.
PO's who do stupid mods and fixes are annoying. Good luck with that last bit.
Ronny, you should be okay without being able to plug in. The super cold days are often enough but not so much to be in a panic over. Just make sure you warm it up before you drive off. Use a thinner oil for a couple months might help.
