Bumper is already on it man.. has been for some time now.
Its not that bad of a bumper.. the stinger takes some time to get used to, but its not too bad. I want to build my own bumpers anyways so when the time comes where i have access to a bender/metal ill make some!

I just dropped in to say that you have inspired me to start wrenching on my yota. I own a '98 taco 2.7 reg cab thats bone stock except an aem intake and a flowmaster muffler. I have been frequenting this site for almost a year as a guest and i registered just to say thanks. its nice to see that someone like me (AKA broke) can still build a kicka** rig. Ive already ordered a wabfab 2.5" lift, 34" swampers, and an LCE header.
Thanks Again!
Thanks Again!

Before i step it up to 4d's (or at the same time. :hillbill) i will either go dirty 30's or longfields, arp studs.. That is at the very least.. I really want to get dual cases going or at least a single geared case.
Then hyrdo assist, almost done installing one on my buddy's truck.. i want to see how it turns out first.

The only reason mine is where it is at, is i love wrenching. I just love building and taking pride, saying i built that myself. There is a ton of stuff left i would like to do but its going to cost money.
Stick around man, start a build thread and keep us all posted.
Your lucky with that tacoma.........
I REALLY REALLY want to build up a ext cab. Tacoma.

I got an awesome deal on it. I originally bought a 96 ext cab with 210K on it for $1000. I put 31x10.50s on it and drove it up to 240K (with nothing but oil changes BTW) and then toyota unveiled the 3rd gen frame recall. lol. I paid a grand for it, drove the piss out of it and toyota cut me a check for $9000. i bought this one for $7500 and pocketed the rest. Most people cant say they got a 98 taco for free.

so when i purchase tires do i go with the 39.5" iroks??????????
I am thinking about the pitbull maddogs, they are cheap $260 a tire for 39's
I want the rockers but not the 16" width

Well i need to decide on a few things to do...
I am going to get 4d's... I am also going to get dual cases and 30 spline inner axles.
Now for the tires im going to need to decide between the iroks or pitbull maddogs since i don't want the wide ass rockers.
For the dual cases i need to decided a few things... Do i want to run two stockers for now, or the dual ultimate setup? Then do i want to support marlin or TG? TG is cheaper and they have a no questions warrantee, but i will most likely run marlin 4.7 gears if i get them.. Then i need to decide between TG crossmember, or bud built.
For 30 splines, do i want to get the dirty 30's or do i want to step it up to longs?
I am thinking....... Dual cases with the TG v6 adapter plate, TG dual adapter with a marlin bearing set, marlin 4.7's with a bud built crossmember.
I am thinking of going iroks.. 39.5x13.5x15 bias ply
And i am deciding between the longs and the dirty 30's.. I want longs more than the TG ones.

The setup you chose is the one I was going to suggest. lol.
Dual stockers with TG adapter, TG dual adapter with marlin gears, marlin 4.7s, but i was going to suggest a TG crossmember to save a few pennies. Also, the longs would probably treat you better than the dirtys.

Yea im just trying to decide on what to do first.
I want all of what i listed, but at the same time i can't afford to do all of it at teh same time.
I think the first thing i will do is longs/dirty 30's.. I may be able to get a deal on some dirty30's from a buddy and if that is the case then i might go that route. ALong with the inner axles i WILL be going with ARP kncukle studs cause ive seen what happens when studs break on the trail. That is the first two things i will do to this truck.
After that i will try to get some new tires, at least to have for the winter wheeling coming up. Those iroks would be great in the snow.
And in order to push the tires, i will either need dual cases or a single geared case. Either way i need some lower gearing offroad. My buddy said he might have a T-shift tcase and if he does have it,then its mine. So that would be a step twoards either direction.

Okay so ive been doing research today at work about cases..
I added everything up between the marlin and TG setups.
So it looks as if i purchased everythign from marlin right now it would come out to $1,347 before taxes/shipping.
Everything from Trail gear would cost me:
$1145 and i could probably get free shipping, no sales tax.

Read the second post. The Longs do handle more force and are at 40* vs the dirtys being at 30*. I think Longs might be your best choice...

Longfields? Why not just get the yukon birffield eliminator kit. It comes with Dana 44 u joints and is stout as . It's what my buddy and I are running never broke a joint (And it has a lifetime warranty) 425$. My buddy even put dana 60 u joints in his, I kept the 44s = easier. lol.
I agree dirty 30s no good but I would go w/o birfs. And its cheaper than the longfields.
