Been a while since ive been in this thread. Looks good.

You will love the 3.4!!!! Big increase in power, but the best part is the delivery of the power. Much more responsive. And the 5.29's make it move. Mine weighs over 5000lbs, and on the 37's (120lbs/corner) with the auto I am considerably faster than a stock 3rd gen! My buddy is pissed.

On the highway I can maintain 75mph in OD at about 2500rpm, and it will Rarely ever down shift regardless of head winds or hills. I could only imagine having stick.

Let us know how the 3.4 goes. I want to throw one (or the 1uzfe) in my 88 runner DD, and its a stick. So I will be watching!

i'm sure you've been keeping your eyes open to ebay, but if you haven't there are lots of ecu's listed there. sort of a risk if one doesn't work, but it might work out good. i think if you couldn't round a manual transmission ecu up, i'd go ahead with the install with the auto ecu. i'm not sure if there would be any drivability issues (is in a limp home mode if the auto tranny isn't there or something) but at least it would get you closer to being up and running. for what it's worth, that is my $0.02.

haha thanks for the shout out man. and i made my sn when i had an 89 22re 4x4 5spd. Havent' bothered to change it mainly is a tribute to my first truck. I'll be leaving for work at 4 today and around 4:30pm for the rest of the week and month i believe. So if you need something answerd pm me before then or i'll try to sit in fc. Oh and make sure the igniter has a good ground. I scraped the paint off underneath where the braket touches the body. Also heres a link to a few engine shots. http://s628.photobucket.com/albums/u.../truck%20swap/ that should give you an idea of how stuff looks

Thanks vital that helped out a bit...

Okay so for now i have a question for you all...
Did you use the 3.4 or the 3.0 fan clutch? Right now im thinking about using the 3.4 since it has 130,000 less miles on it..

Also what did you all do for the lower radiator coolant line?

im trying to wrap this up tonight.

Im going to just use the 3.4 fan clutch i think, let me know if there is any reason i shouldn't...

i also used the 3.4 fan clutch and i believe they are the same just the fan blades were different. So, what ever will fit better. As far as lower hose goes, i believe i got a lower hose from a 97 toyota tacoma 3.4. You'll need to trim it to fit. but it should work. pm me and other questions, i leave for work at 5 so .. untill then my friend

Okay after vital gave me a huge help over the phone yesterday i am really close to trying to start this thing up.

Im still searching for an manual trans ecu that will work, since this auto ecu setup is only temporary. Will a 99 Tacoma 2WD m/t ecu work? Would the only downsides of this be no 4wd indicator light? If so i think i can live with that.
