In my experience with carid, the parts are often "file to fit", but in the cases where parts arrived damaged or totally wrong, customer service was good and they gave me no trouble with a refund

Paint them well as soon as you get them, i bet they're made of the cheapest steel possible, other than that they aren't a scam or anything

CariD is a supporting vendor of YotaTech.

Not much of an update, funds are low, had a couple teeth pulled at the dentist a few days ago so that has sapped my motivation. Long weekend coming up though, so will be rolling the 4Runner into the shop to do some degreasing/cleaning/random crap. I did order a stock replacement muffler a few days ago(Don't tell my wife!). I've been missing the back plate and tail pipe on my exhaust for a year or so, so time to replace as cheap as possible! Will post more info about that soon.

Stock tape deck wouldn't stop auto reversing the tape every second or so, couldn't find any reliable repair info online, so threw in a CD player I had sitting around. Will make a top storage box to sit on top of it. Removed the old rusty cig lighter as well, will order and install a new 12v one, and possibly a twin USB where my power antenna button is. Also need to source a heater control cover, that broken one drives me nuts!

Quick shot of the center console I made last year when I removed the rear heater. Didn't paint it or anything as I'm planning to swap a manual trans in at some point, and it may change the way my cup holder is situated.

I'm getting some fluid dripping off the lower part of my steering stabilizer and onto the skid plate mounting bracket at the bottom right of the pic. Could be power steering pump starting to leak, will be doing some degreasing and cleaning this weeked to try and track down the leak. Also getting a drip of oil about every 2 days off my front driveshaft where it bolts to the 3rd member, will try to track that down this weekend as well. My oil pan gasket also desperately needs to be done, it's on the list!

Your CD player looks much better than the job my PO did! hacking up the plastic :p

Oil pan gasket is FIPG/RTV, and it's a bear to get the oil pan off, there are posts describing various methods, I just put it off 2 years until I rebuilt the engine

Sorry to hear your stereo got hacked in :/ not cool at all.

I'm not particularly looking forward to doing the oil pan.. so it's pretty far down the list. I may do the same as you and put it off until I can rebuild.. I have dreams of buying a second gen runner to serve as my DD for awhile so I can rebuild this one, but it's only a dream at the moment..

Idle issue that has lead to more

Got an Idle Adjustment screw O ring and put it in, not much difference. Started thinking I may have a misfire, so started pulling wires as it was running.. sure enough, pull plug wire #2 and no change to engine idle. At lunch today I will go out and swap wires #2 and #3, hopefully I just have a bad plug wire. If not, bad spark plug? Injector? I need to research more.

Sending injectors out for servicing is definitely advisable

I was afraid that was going to be one of the answers :/ This is currently my only vehicle, so I'm not sure I can do that, but if that's what needs to be done I will figure something out. Thanks magnet.

No. 2 Injector does not seem to be firing. I guess I need to figure out how to commute to work while I figure out how to swap two of the injectors, to confirm if it is the injector or the wiring/connector.

I had a thought though, my Thermostat housing was leaking down the back, and right onto that No.2 injector connection, possibly I gummed it up with coolant or something along those lines? I will unhook it and attempt to clean it before ripping into anything else or throwing parts at it.. I hate doing that!

you can pull and clean your injectors pretty easily, just need a rubber valve stem, an extra injector connector, and some brake cleaner. videos on youtube showing how to set it up.

Thanks warrpath I'll look into that.

I've been able to use a company truck this week, left the 4runner parked at work. I'm going to limp it home on 3 cylinders tomorrow, before that I will clean my No.2 injector connection and redo the ground coming out of the injector harness going to the intake, just because it will be easy and with any luck could help.

Once I get it home and into the shop I'll do some diagnosing. I like the idea of removing them and cleaning and testing them.

If I listen via a stethoscope and can hear my injectors all clicking, that should confirm my wiring and connectors are functioning, right? Then it could be a clogged injector.

I've borrowed a compression tester and will do that this weekend hopefully.

Update: Fired it up at lunch and ran it for about a half hour, running the RPMs up, shifting it in and out of gear, and all my cylinders seems to be firing. It would seem I have an intermittent misfire. Will see how it drives on the way home today.

It would appear my misfire is intermittent. Drove home from work Friday with no issues, no misfire present, also ran fine on the weekend and bringing it to work this morning. Hard to diagnose a problem that isn't happening, so if it comes back I will chase it again, until then, I will still try to do a compression test, check my timing, and a few other basic diagnostics that I didn't get to on the weekend.

My '87 had an intermittent misfire, it ended up being the injector wire harness where the wires turned from 4 down to two. The crimp at that location had corroded, cut out the bad recrimped and heat shrinked its been good to go ever since.
