the 4.7s are nice, no doubt, but i did wish i had a little more gearing in some spots. lucky me (NOT), i've done this one thing at a time. i went from auto to 5-speed w/stock case first. this required, like you said, for the rear driveshaft to be lengthened 2-3". i then went to the single 4.7 case with Marlin's adapter. this resulted in the total drivetrain length being 1/2" longer. this step, with my height of lift, required that i shorten the rear driveshaft an inch. not sure if it will be the same for you, but that's how it worked out for me. i will still be going duals, and redoing my driveshaft AGAIN, but it should all be worth it. hope that helps you.

That helps a lot. I was trying to talk myself into a single 4.7 if there was no shaft work required. Looks like it will be a while before I get to do the hammers.

Thank You.

Looks like a hell of a time at the Hammers. Glad to hear your 'runner did well. I can't wait to get there with mine.

Are you still running the 14" shocks out back? 4" of uptravel? How is that working out?

yeah, JV was a blast Clint. you planning on making it to the Jambo this year? we're planning on making the trip, so if you do we'll have to hit a trail or two together.

as for the shocks, the 14s were too long. i was at ~3-4" of bump travel at ride height, and once i loaded it up at all for a trip that travel became almost non-existent. picked up a set of 12" Fox 2.0s with reservoirs and finally got those in today. the situation is much better back there now... 5-6" at ride height now, they were valved for my application, and now there's no bushing bind.

David, a stock CV just didn't have the clearance i needed.

Clint, it's actually seemless 2" and seamed 2.5" due to certain reasons...

Adrian, i am running 5" Trail-Gear springs woth 6" eye-to-eye shackles. i'll be swapping in the TG HD springs once the rear swap is done. hopefully that'll help with my axle wrap. the regular 5" TG springs are just too damn soft, especially for a V6 rig.
they are to soft even for my extra cab with a 4banger. im gonna call them soon and get the hd springs.

started working on bumpstops for the rear this past weekend... using the stockers for now, but relocating them so they contact the u-bolt plates. they will stay "bolt-on" so i can use a softer piece in the future, with a nut welded on the top-side of the round plate. only pic i have for now:

i'll have more by this weekend.

UPDATE

bumpstop extensions are done, just need to be welded to the frame. they'll be in as soon as i find some free time to do it...

picked up some 15x8" black steelies for cheap and had my tires mounted up on those. i'll have pics soon. she's a little narrower now, but overall i think the old girl looks much better.

snow is fun

so bumpstops are finally done. the stockers will get replaced by some timbrens eventually, but these will do for now. might also gusset the extensions up a bit, we'll see...

broke the welds on the factory steering box mount... so stay tuned for that excitement.
