the rocks on the right were a little slick... straddling didn't seem to work for anyone, so most guys just picked a side to go high on.
well, a little update on the old girl... 5-speed is working fine and i love the Marlin clutch. finally got my 23-spline 4.7s into one of my cases yesterday, and i got the Marlin V6 adaper as well. heading to the Hammers for new years, so i'll just be running a single 4.7 case for that trip. we'll see how it goes... onto some pics:

oh yes, it's staying pink. the front crawl box will be pink too once i go duals. why? why not? :-P i figured it was time to give the Runner some character... add a little comedic factor to the whole build, cause a few chuckles. i know i laugh everytime i go out to the garage and see it.

I know where a local 85 truck is for sale with all pink suspension and zebra interior.Rather than your bumpers getting the pink, you should just hit the remaining chrome with it instead, mirrors, door handles, etc... Give it a nice 80's look.

Hey Mike, I passed you on South St. this morning. The 4runner is looking good! Last time I saw it on the road was when it still had some major ass sag. Looks badass now.

thanks chris.
so the 4.7 case is in and all bolted up. however, the crossmember doesn't quite work, the driveshaft is now a little too long, and either the floor needs more trimming or the shifter needs to be dog-legged. i'll update as we try to figure all this stuff out... the driveshaft is the only problem that really chaps my ass, seeing that this rear driveshaft has been retubed 3 times, and now has to be shortened. part of the sport, right?

got it all buttoned up tonight. what i learned about this swap...
-drivetrain is 3/4" longer with 4cyl case and adapter, and required d-shaft shortening for me
-shifter worked, but could benefit from some modification (cut floor more or dog-leg shifter)
-hole in crossmember for t-case mount needed to be enlarged toward the rear
-4.7s are cool

only tip i can really give you is make sure you have everything, and make sure everything is in working condition. the swap is actually really easy, as long as you're not stuck looking for parts.

everything all buttoned up for the most part... almost ready for the Hammers.

Bellfields are waiting under the tree for me, and i also picked up some 12" Fox 2.0s that should be mounted up soon. should have plenty of pictures and video to post when we get back from JV.

JV was AMAZING. ran sledge and clawhammer, got a few small dents/scratches, and the only carnage was a cracked wheel. i am very impressed with how the 4Runner held up and performed. we just got back this evening, so pictures should be showing up the next couple of days... will post as they come in.

4.7's
Great Build, been watching it from the start. I am a little partial to white '93s though.
So is a single 4.7 all you really need or are duals the way to go? Looks like you picked the perfect trail to find out.
Also did you go right from auto to 5spd with gear driven case or right to the geared case? Curious if there is drive shaft change going from 5spd chain driven to 5spd gear driven. I know when I went from auto to 5 spd (chain) it was 2" longer on the rear and 1" shorter on the front. Wish I just had the cash to do everything at once.
Thanks
