You're welcome. Ends up being about 50 bucks after shipping. I recommend doing it sooner than later my passenger side was so bad that the door has rusted from the inside out from all the water that was getting in.

I hear you on the rust. I have a pretty leaky cab these days. I need anything and everything that will help.

This seems like a very affordable start.

Well I will sleep better at night now.

Mods/custom work to be done:
7. Add new alarm

While I was at the alarm/stereo place they showed me another customer's amazing 1st gen pickup. Check this beauty out!

Only 64k on the clock! The pictures do it no justice. The truck was beautiful!

Yeah I'm telling you it didn't feel like sitting in a Toyota it was so nice LOL. I can't take the credit for the alarm. The guys at the shop I went to are just damn good at what they do.

Well I removed one of the bolts from my sway bar in prepration for a wheeling trip tomorrow. Can any of you guys tell me if this is enough to get the extra articulation or do I need to remove the bolts from both sides? I imagine since 4crawler sells the disconnects this is enough?

i think that should get you what your lookin for, but i'd disconnect the anti-wrap bar to if you really want it to flex.

I'm not familiar with the anti-wrap bar. Do you mean the torque rod?

Looks great. Care to share how you made it? Looks like you have a different rod than stock too? Do you have a quick disconnect on both ends or just let it hang there while you wheel?

its just a 5/8" hitch pin, you can get them at most hardware stores, home depot, or even harbor freight. shoot you could even use a standard style pin for a tow hitch, which can be bought at walmart. my torque rod is just a "dropped" one that came as part of my dropped draglink kit, but it would work the same with the stock one. i left the mount on the frame side untouched, i just tie the bar up out of the way when i wheel. i planned on building tab to mount it when disconnected but i never got it done.
the stock steering system has actually been pretty hardy for me, i've been wheeling it hard for about 4 years now and i've never had any issues, other than its flex limitations. I would recommend reinforcing the j arm though. i just welded on some 1/8" thick angle to it, its crude but its never broke haha. you can kinda see what i did here: https://www.yotatech.com/forums/f198...l#post51962477

That is awesome. I'll hit up home depot this weekend and see what I can find. I dig the handle with the red grip. Going to try and find one just like that.

I've got hysteer planned in the very near future so I'm not investing too much into beefing up the stock setup but I'm glad to hear you are making it work!

My truck handles great on & off road with hi steer setup without both torque or sway bars. I had planned on making a quick release sway bar setup but after driving it I felt I didn't need sway bars at all. I will be adding a steering stabilizer soon to help with steering wheel shake when on bumpy roads or trails at higher speeds.
