sounds like you got a neat build goin, it'll be a lot of fun to have that turbo on the road. are you having a custom bell-housing made?
I mainly went with the turbo for the road hah! Climbing up those steep mountain passes should be a breeze and the added benefit of a little more power on the trail. It's good to hear that you aren't having any problems with oil pressure, I've never actually read a thread stating someone seized or destroyed their 7M but keep seeing references to the oiling issue. I have read that it is common to use an extra quart of oil when 7M supra owners track their cars, guess the oil doesn't get that close to the crank. I was debating on getting a custom pan made just to be safe but it sounds like I may not have to.

Did you change your dash gauges? I've heard the 4cyl ones read incorrectly.

I plan on using my W56 with a W58 bellhousing, if that breaks I may try to find a R150F and combine it with the R154 I have.

yea i try to keep it about 1/2 quart over full when i'm wheelin. i also run full synthetic, it seems to run better with it.

.
my truck was carb'd originally so i put an sr5 cluster from an '88 v6 in and all the guages work very well. i used the temp sensor from the 4runner and had to run a wire for the tach since it didn't have one originally, but everything else works just fine. i found out later that the tach is actually the same for both the 4 cyl and the v6, there's an adjustment screw on it. i'll be putting up some interior pics here soon, i'm getting ready to do some painting.
sounds like you did your homework on the swap, IMO you should be fine as long as you keep the turbo stock and don't get greedy! my engine is hooked up to my 27 year old G52 trans with about 300k on it and its still running strong!

i've been working on some interior projects lately so here's the update:
installed a rear LED cargo light:

wired in a new switch with constant power so it will work when the truck is parked.

also wired it to the factory switch

works great! it was a pain getting the wires through the topper. sat there with a piece of wire for about an hour and finally got it fed through. I wanted to limit the topper wiring harness to one plug so it can still be easily removed, so i wired in a larger connector to accommodate the new wires.

also installed a new fuse panel in the engine bay with a relay off the ignition. ran the cb and stereo to it. plenty of room to grow!

looking real good with the 35's . I have a question about your ruf hybrid set up in your build you had said you cut 1" off. could you explane .was that off what? the axle. Thanks.

I got a dropped drag link for free from a friend so i was finally able to move my front axle forward. I cut about 1" off of each end and that gave me enough adjustment to put the rear-up-front hybrid packs that i've had sitting in my garage. it raised the front another 2" or so and moved my axle about 2.5" forward from stock.

here's my solution to not having a cup holder, its kinda crude but works great.

its removable so i can still use the trey if i need to. i glued several pieces of wood together with different sized holes drilled in them. then i sanded it down to give a nice taper. holds a pop can or a coffee mug tight!

Problems

My interior work has been put on hold for a few weeks now due to some electrical issues. Came out one day to find my battery dead, and after a new alternator (under warranty) and battery (was 3 yrs old) i finally discovered a 5mA draw through the AM2 fuse. took me a coulpe days worth of frustration and wiring diagrams to trace it to the ECU (3mA) and the Alternator (2 mA). anyone know if either of these is normal? on the bright side, i've located the problem so now comes the easy part....

Step 1. buld the truck
step 2. have fun with it.
unfortunately i took step 2 a little 2 far....

attempted a hill climb on loose dirt with walls on both sides, got a little sideways, lost traction and over she went.

The cab was 2" out of square. so it needed a little redneck innovation...

minus a few hundred bucks in new glass, and a couple dents she made a full recovery. Guess i learned that lesson the hard way
