Exactly,keep the rust away!!I also think a factory sr5 stripe would look sick on the hood.

Agreed! I need to get off my butt and see if my dad's fiance can whip some of these up with her vinyl machine. Although she's been swamped this week trying to make t-shirts. She decided last week that she was going to start putting designs on them and already has an order for 80+ lol.

 

Hey if your thinking of adding a c.b,you can do like I did for an antenna and just simply use a magnetic base one instead of drilling a hole.or build a tab that hangs out off the rear bumper or your hardtop mounting bolts.

Was surfing craigslist Omaha and there's a guy w a yellow 4runner and tons of parts,I was interested in the Detroit locker.

 

I can't seem to figure out exactly here I want to mount it.

I think I saw that one on Craig's list. I would live to buy it and take all the parts I want.

 

Holy cow that's busy.

 

Was out on the town tonight with the wife and kids. On the way home I saw, what I knew was my old 2nd gen ex-cab. I immediately switch lanes and start heading around when the wife starts asking me where the heck I'm going.

Long story short, I was right. It was my old 91 ex-cab truck.

Very hard to see in the condition that it is now

The truck was mint when I bought it. Minimal minimal rust, mint interior. So clean you could eat off of it. Put a body lift on it , an add a leaf, new shocks, paint, and other various repairs.

I drive the truck for about a year. Actually used it to move from IL to IA. Hauled all my crap quite well. Then used it as a DD 60+ miles a day.

Great truck.

Reluctantly sold it to a "jeep" guy that said he wanted to try out. Toyota. I thought it was getting a good home.

Fast forward to today....

It's beat, rotted out, paint is trashed. Interior looks like the dude was living out of it with his 5 pet raccoons.

Tailgate was missing, sounded like crap.

I ended up talking to the owner and he said he bought it from the guy I sold it to. And the guy I sold it to used it as a hunting truck.

I know it's stupid to be upset about it but it really bothered me to see it like that. All that hard work and super clean truck gone to crap. Totally not taken care of.

The kid is going to college in town at the local college. So I am sure I will see it again. Will try to take a pic.

 

Sorry to hear that man,if it could talk it would probably have alota crazy stories to tell you.

Wow what a bummer. I know most peeps always hope our prized possession "our rigs" will always to to a good or better home and be treated right. Unfortunately most don't see it that way. They figure, yea I scored a great deal on a beater! And best of all its a Toyota so you know it'll last 200k miles before it breaks down on ya.

I hate that. I remember my mom selling her favoritest car, some old old Toyota Corolla wagon, to a new person in town. She cut them a deal because they didn't have a job and they had kids so needed transportation. So they bought the car. Not even one week later passed and whikr walking hone from school my older brother and I spotted the car and the guy driving it. The poor car had been crashed on the front end. Hood being held down with a stretchy rope. Dings on the back and one big hit on the driver side doors. That was horrible to see considering we grew up in that little car. Just sucked. I always wonder how my littler 86 Toyota 4x4 pickup turned out. I've never seen it since I sold it.

 

I feel your frustrations on that and such a shame to see something get wasted. I sold a 89 standard cab to my nephew for what I had into it and was hoping he would take it to the next step and make it into something great. He trashed it. Luckily another guy bought it and fixed it back up to a nice truck. Those extended cabs are hard to find.

By the way, my nephew asked if I knew where any more Toyotas were or if I would fix one up for him. I will get on that when heck freezes over. It isn't going to happen and guess who is using a size 10 for getting around on. If he would of taken care of it, that truck would lasted many years. I was tempted to keep it but I prefer the 84-88 body style.

Why was trading your 09 Double Cab a huge mistake? Buying it or trading it? I have been meaning to ask you about that?

 

Yeah that stinks. Reminds me of my old 76 f250 high boy ford. It was a Sunday driver truck. I had it all done up. I might have put 1000 miles a year on it. I sold it because I needed the money, and it went to someone that I knew. They said they were going to Take care of it like I did. A month later I found out he was using I everyday to pull a landscaping trailer for his business. What a joke.

In less than a year, it was wrecked, different bed, motor leaked like a faucet,(390ci with np204 divorced t-case setup), his buddies got drunk and talked him into letting them wheel it up in the woods by where we lived. Got it stuck and let it sit for a week or so in the woods.

Last I saw, it was for sale by someone else and was best to crap. Sad.

 

It's hard to make young-ins understand the value of certain vehicles. And by it's important to care care of them. I have a lot of students that buy 1500$ cars to get around and best the heck out of them. Never change oil, let them rot away, and get mad when they quit running and have to spend more money to get another vehicle. When all along it would have lasted if they just took care of it.


Ok my 09 double can Tacoma. There are a lot of reasons why I was an idiot and should not have sold it.

It was paid of with only 9,000 miles on it. No payment.

Had a 3" stage 2 procomp lift on it.

Had 33x13.50x18 dick Cepek FCII's on it.

It was totally setup.

I had a cap for it in the winter, and a tonneau cover for the summer.

I sold it because I didn't think the wife wanted kids. So I traded it on a cummins diesel ram that was going to be my pulling truck. I was going to get a car hauler trailer and haul cars and loads for people. Use it to make some money.

Bad idea all around.
Shortly after I got the dodge the wife decided she wanted to have kids. No big deal right. Well we found out we were having twins. Still no big deal right... Well I tried to fit two car seats in the extended cab. Since we have twins, a car seat had to go behind the two front seats.

I'm 6'4". Needless to say it did not fit or work. And that was the only vehicle we had that was able to fit kids in the back.

Crappy deal. Bonehead move on my part.

The only good thing about the whole situation, is I traded the dodge in on a new left over crew cab f150. The dodge was worth more than the new f150 by a few bucks. So I really made out on the deal.

Now I have a 2010 f150 that fits all of us, and no payment.

There just isn't anything on the market in the newer cars and trucks that excite. The Tacoma double cabs is the only thing I really care for and would like to have, just don't want to go into payments to get one. Probably will have one someday, like 20 years from now, lol. I think they would make the ultimate daily driver, family truck and all around all purpose ride. Other then gas mileage, I think the quad cabs basically replace the four door cars.

Been a few cars and trucks that I cant kick my butt hard enough for getting rid of as well. Being 6 foot tall, the standard cabs are just too crowded for me so I can understand that as well.
