Dropped the 85 off at the windshield shop. Was suppossed to do it yesterday but was to tired. I replace the brake pads but did not get them bled out. Luckily low range was geared low enough to get it to the shop with out brakes.

Tomorrow or Friday it goes to the exhaust shop. Picking it up from the windshield shop tomorrow.

Off-roaders want the r151f because it is the beefier v6 trans, with an extra low first gear. I believe its a 4.32 vs the regular r150fs 3.83. and with the turbos bell housing, can be mated to a 4cyl block. It also keeps the gear drive case while upgrading it to 23 spline internally, vs the v6 23 spline chain drive case. Worth a good bit more than any other toyota trans if complete.

Ill go read back through stuff now, but what are you doing with the turbo trans?

Heres some good general trans info if you havent seen this link already. http://www.4x4wire.com/toyota/faq/parts/

I may need to get a better picture but where my pointer finger is, those are closest to the rear of the door. I have used the yellow plugs to fix another door. These are the square quarter inch holes I was telling you about being pre punched in the door. You can go from the shorter arm rest to the longer arm rest just by moving the yellow plugs. Also the longer arm rest will hide your old hole.

There are two square holes on each side of my pointer finger. My pinky is for the front hole on either arm rest.
ok so doors are punched for a certain size arm rest an ill have to pop a new hole in there for the threaded insert gotcha GOOD to know it'll cover the hole from the smaller arm rest so not all is lost yay!

with that rusted studs put your anode (sacrificial mower blade) close as possible to the stud (s) so its working hardest on the rust in the threads it will be much slower than just cleaning, id take it out once a day grab with vice grips an wiggle them that'll help break the rust down

thats gona be one super clean manifold when this is done lol

Hello rattlewagon... I may have misunderstood a friend of mine. He was saying the turbo bellhousing is a sought after bell housing as it allows for a heavier duty clutch. Is this bell housing adaptable to a V6 transmission? In my opinion the V6 transmission would be a beefier transmission and if adding the turbo transmission bell housing to a V6 tranny would be an upgrade for the 22r motor. Is that correct or am I way off on that? Thanks for the link. I will start studying up on transmission information.

Hello cyberhorn...You just need to move the tab that the screw goes into back to the rear square hole already there. You wont have to do any cutting or drilling. It is a quick upgrade.

I got another manifold cooking. I found it yesterday while getting some pictures for you. My 86 keeps leaking at the "Y" pipe and the manifold. The 88 keeps getting cherry. I have manifold issues a plenty, lol I am hoping when I get my 85 back from the windshield shop today and if I have time to get the 85 to the exhaust shop it is sealed.

The turbo tranny and the v6 tranny themselves are the same thing, just the turbo has a lower 1st gear, which is more ideal off road, and why its so sought over. The turbo tranny ALSO retains the gear drive t case, while the v6 has the less desirable chain drive. The best upgrade would be to put the whole turbo bell housing/tranny/transfer in the truck. But it may move where the shifters come up through the floor.

Ive never head people wanting it for a bigger clutch?

Thanks!!! I probably misunderstood him. Now I am kicking myself in the butt. I missed out on a wrecked 89 with the 3.0 in it. It was well worth it for parts but knowing that the transmission in stock form would not work on mine, I passed on it. It was wrecked and missing the motor and would of been well worth it for the price but for what I wanted it was a little more higher then I wanted to pay.

Got the exhaust installed today. I get to pay taxes, yeah, get the interior installed, and then register it but hoping to get it legal soon.

It will be a few months off but I have already started thinking on my next project. I have an 87 that was an exact twin to Chefs red runner. These trucks are the most loaded trucks I have seen. There are SR5s and then there are the fully loaded SR5s. This red runner I have is a fully loaded. It is missing some pieces that are going to need to be replaced but all of the wiring is there and I have most of the parts to get it going, the biggest expense is going to be paint and SR5 Stripes.

I am on an SR5 kick. My 85 has the wiring to be a top of the line SR5. Just got to find and add the pieces it is missing. I can use the two trucks to compare to each other and for testing to get all the features working.

I am going to use my 86 runner to fix Mistys 88. I will use the harness and motor out of my 86 for hers. I cant figure out the Cherry Manifold on it. Some parts off of my 86 will get used on the red 87. I will let the boys rebuild a motor for my 86 and will get another harness for it at a later time. The 86 is going on the back burner for a future project as it is going to donate its parts to my SR5 projects and Mistys. It will be put back on the road at a later time. This is a couple of months off yet but is going to happen.

My truck that I can make like Chefs. Current condition.

Eventually what I want mine to look like. I think with my 85 and the red runner, I can have two really hard to find trucks that are fully loaded. Seems like when I bought new trucks I could only buy the base model trucks and now I can make top of the line trucks.

Thanks Robb... Luckily I have a storage shed with shelves and tote bins to keep things organized. It is when I am getting ready to paint one that I have to be on my toes to keep everything together. Things get spread out as I have parts everywhere.

Hello cyberhorn.. Being down to just the 3rd gen and my 86 is something I dont care for at all. Always like to have another backup truck. Once I get the pickup dependable and tagged, I am going to get the 88 figured out. I am thinking it is the manifold but I will be checking the valves on it soon. I am going to be glad when I find it, the 88 should run great as it has plenty of new parts on it when I do get it figured out.

I was out tinkering on some things and Hunter wanted to know about the mask and did not know I had a welder. I let him give it a shot.

Here is his first weld. It didnt hold up as I was able to get the bolt off of the bar tht I let him weld it to. He still liked it. I will not be the one that fixes their trucks in the future, they are going to know how. They already know most tools and how to get around in the shop.

Starting to put my dash back together. The plastic is faded and dead in areas. One thing that can make a truck more enjoyable is just having a nice interior. I was against painting plastic in the past as it always looked terrible. That was I had always seen regular paint used on interiors. It has to be interior paint.

If I was buying my trucks back in the 80s, A white Runner with a red interior and a Creme truck with brown interior would of never have happened. Now the white runner is my favorite all time truck and never would of thought I would of want a brown interior with my pickup. I have a nearly completed gray interior for it but just doesnt seem to go with the creme color and is how the factory sent it.

You have to use Adhesion Promotor before using paint. Cleaning it is the biggest time consumer. Doesnt take long after getting it cleaned.

Will get some painted pictures up later as it is done. I wanted to keep the shifter label so masked around it. Shows more of the faded as well and the after does look better.

I may be ahead of my time. I have 3 of these, Wahoo!!! >>> http://www.foxnews.com/leisure/2014/...-collectibles/

I had to go help with a few things so will update what I got done so far. There are two different types of Speedometer Bezels. Both are interchangeable but I like one kind better then the other.

The one I like is more pointed and has less black showing.

Here is the other sytle. It is more squared off.

Both of them together.

Got my glove box light working. This has to be factory wired into the harness to add this option. Sure it could be added by hard wiring but something I dont know how to do.
Name: access%201_zpsybtbfzvb.jpg

Mostly a reference picture for me, but my cruise control light works as well.

Some have a three speed fan switch and some have a four speed fan switch. I installed the four speed fan switch in mine and have all four speeds working. One thing I have run into in the past. Some have a 3 pronged resistor and others have a 4 prong resistor. Double check as to what you have. Not sure which years used which.

Hello Cyberhorn... I got it from Jason as well . I always like the 70-72 Chevy Trucks, just because of the grill. I have a truck magazine somewhere that shows how to cut the rear of the frame to turn it from a long bed to short bed. Just some good looking trucks. I had a friend that has restored several Corvairs. One day I want to fix a panel wagon car, still not sure what car it will be. I want a 2 door with no back glass in it.

Tomorrow I will show what you need to add the glove box light. There is a bar on the bottom that has the button that turns it on and off. Good thing about it is the glove box light only works when the headlights are on.

The bottom one is the one I should be using to be period correct. I am using the top one as they are tougher and just look a little better to me.

Got my A pillar trims painted and installed. On some trucks the stereo bezel is painted to the color of the dash. In the brown interior trucks it is black. I like the matching color to the dash.

Same thing with the Steering Column Cover. I painted my brown. I see several covers where someone gets over tight and breaks the inside tabs. I use a washer and Gorilla Glue to fix those broken items.

I got most of the dash in. I am currently working on the speedometer cluster. The lense was in bad shape and will finish it tomorrow.

Terry why is it so lonely in this 84-85 section??? There's hundreds of 86-95 builds. Crazy. Looking forward to seeing this 85 in action. Man I still want an extra cab.
