Terrys87 83 Build Restore

Man that's a nice shop, and they got it up in one day? Some foam insulation bord on the inside would probably do a lot for it this winter. I have one of the old school kerosene heaters, and it will run you out of the garage in about an hour.
I'm glad for you Terry.

Hello Outsane..I am back on mine. Will post some pics of the tailgate, it is in great condition, but I am moving again on it.
Hello irab88..I am going to get the mudpit situation taken care of here soon. It has been awfully cold here, but the next few days are looking better. As far as the garage, I have been waiting a long time. Still alot to do it. That is a project in itself. It will take another few years to get it going.
Hello Jason..Thanks. I am just about to get his truck wrapped up. Doing the sanding that gets the paint level and then buffing. Still have a few hours to go, but it is really looking great. I missed some spots here and there (grrr) but they are small. Think this truck is going to be sweet. It is really giving me a goal to shoot for.
Hello Chef... Been thinking and praying for ya. Hope all is well with the family. I will be checking your thread out here in a few to get caught up. Been busy myself. Will be checking out everybodys. I have only been in the shop a little at a time. You need to pipe some of the California sunshine over here it is cold. I plan on getting the truck in today as snow is possible here soon.
Hello Tinman.. I was laughing about the kerosene heater. I have an old one and the last time I used it was when I lived in Tulsa, 10 years ago. Today I couldnt find any kerosene as all of the stores that sell it are closed. I did get the spark plug cleaned up on it and got all of the dust out of it. Fan works, now just got to see if it will still pump fuel. I really hope it works. I used it in an uninsulated garage at 10 below zero and it was nice and toasty in there with it.
Hello dirtdobber..I enjoyed meeting you too. I know you had a change of plans of moving up north of Springfield, but if those plans changed again, I wouldnt be upset.lol. I get to Springfield once a month or so.
Thanks dsal..Hope you and your family had a great Christmas.

Hello everybody..Hope all had a great Christmas, I had a great Christmas myself. Was watching the evening news and they showed Santa crossing the Atlantic ocean and for Christmas, I wanted Rudlolf steak and eggs for breakfast, so I got the rifle out. Kids went to bed early, so at midnite, I woke them up and said I had gotten Rudolph with one shot and I need to them to help me find where he had landed. My youngest is a heavy sleeper, once he figured out what was going on, said he would be doing some payback.heheh
Still putting the finishing shine on my friends truck. Think it is going to look great. Did get some time on my truck. I started on the tailgate. Still trying to get some heat in my shop. Havent used the heater I have for 10 years so dont know how that is going to go.
The tailgate was involved in a rollover but is in great shape. The inside panel just needs a good sanding and not to much on the outside. It wasnt much but it is a start to getting my project moving again.
Backside in great shape.

Some work. Actually in great shape.

I got it in the shop finally. Popped out a couple of dents in the roof cab, still going to have to do alot of bodywork on the top.
I am starting to undo some of the wiring in the engine compartment. Going to try and see if I can get the black coating off and see if I cant get it prepped to paint to the body color. Was going to leave it black as it is, but just felt I was taking the easy way out without giving it a try.
Going to find some saw horses and pull the cab back off. Also want to try and get the motor on the frame. Should start seeing some real progress soon.
out, so will see if I cant get it stripped.

In the beginnig of this build, it was noticed that I could have a bent frame. This frame I am using is fixable, but just in case I did get a spare frame. That takes some pressure off of this build.
Got it in the shop and if I have to use it, I will give it a good detailing. It is solid, just surface rust. Did wash it up a little.

The shop is 23x26. The boat is coming back out of there. It takes to much room. Looking to get another cover for it as the one I just got isnt going to work.
With my truck and the wife runner in it is plenty of room to work. Soon as I get a cover for the boat, you will see an 86 Runner in there.
The cab is coming back off in the next couple of days when I can get my brother over here and it will sit behind the frame and still have plenty of room to work on the cab and frame. Want to start installing the drive train and not get stripping and overspray on each other.

Getting the engine bay prepped for paint and a reminder for me to how to get everything back togther. Wish I could leave things alone and not make them any harder then they have to be.lol.
What I got ready to start stripping.

The 2 wires that go thrugh hoop.

Side marker light.

Wiper motor horizontal and wipers straight up nd down.

Heater hose,2nd on left.

Fluid lines. Keep in order and where tab go.

Clutch line that goes to bracket and in order.

Heater hose order.

Goes to Clutch and Brake Cylinder connections.
