wow what a dream garage!!
I've also been looking at my interior wheel wells knowing it's gonna be a pain in the ass to remove that tar, I'll brush on some aircraft paint stripper to soften it up and wire wheel it I think. Can't wait to see the blasted pics!

Well I have good news and bad news. Good news is I haven't found any hidden surprises under the paint yet. Bad news is that I only got about a third of the sandblasting that I wanted to get done today. I got tied up trying to remove old seam sealer in the drip rail for a couple hours. The sandblaster wouldn't even touch it and I got the good stuff today to. This stuff is great:

Fenders done:

Driver side:

Rear done:

Passenger side:

Drip rail all cleaned up and NOT ONE SPECK OF RUST!! Woot woot!!

I have about a full day of blasting left to do, but that media that I bought cuts really well so it shouldn't be too bad. I still need to dismantle the doors before I blast them.

You are completing your truck to fast lol I'm so far behind you it's not funny
I started with the notion of a head gasket and that's it
Well why not get a weber
Well now I need an intake
I should do the exhaust and a header to keep up with the intake
Man I should port match this head and intake
A small cam wouldn't hurt
Wow that's a great deal on skat h beams and forged wiseco pistons
I think I need bigger valves now
My fuel system isn't going to keep up and there's a 19 gal fuel cell at a good price
Oh Holley fuel pump
8an fuel lines and fittings
Found a great deal on aluminum radiator
Now how will I ignite these cylinder
Mallory hyfire 6al
MSD red coil
Mallory billet hyfire distributor
And the list really goes on including rollcage
But the body I have not touched yet but it is off just need time and funds
Tundra needs front bearings too

lookin' great Dave .. this is what separates the builders from the buyers .. press on my friend , press on .. there is light at the end of the tunnel.
and on another note , little behind on your bed .. it's upsidedown , and ready for the final body work we do .. so it's coming , but I'm just swamped , and behind on production .
My dad also just came back from Yuma , and brought me some flares and a visor ( as we were chatting about) .. so I should have some new parts available soon /one day

83 Trail Rig, I know the feeling. Mine started with a rebuilt engine too, then all hell broke loose! I also replaced the front wheel bearings in my Tundra about a year ago at 130,000 miles, talk about a pain in the ass! Have you gotten the recall on your Tundra for the frame corrosion undercoating? I had mine done last week and it looks great now.
Corey, no worries. I know you're slammed. Obviously, I have plenty of things to do prior to paint, but I'm hoping to spray it around the first of May so hopefully that fits your timeline. I need to get up with you about the final bed cost so I can drop that check in the mail. As for the fender and visors, I am certainly curious. More details please! I'm a tall dude so I typically don't use visors because I wouldn't be able to see the road, but I store my sunglasses by wedging them above my visors so I still like to have them. I have a set of structurally sound visors (they are just ugly) if you need more to make molds. I was considering taking them apart to recover them, but if you are making visors then I may go that route.
Last night I decided to break down the doors. I decided to just go at them figuring that it can't be that difficult... Well, after about a hour of fiddling with the driver side door I decided maybe I should break out the FSM to see how these damn windows come out! Boy did that make it easier. And like everything else, the second time around is always easier so I had the passenger side completely apart in less than 30 minutes. Everything looked pretty good coming off. I'm going to get new locks (hopefully find a set with the matching ignition key), new door handles (originals have pitted chrome and stick a little), new weather seals (old ones aren't terrible, but new is always better when it comes to water tightness) and new outside reveal trim. Then HOPEFULLY, I can re-assemble everything without scratching up my fresh paint! I imagine that it will be easier with the door on the truck instead of having to fight the door to stay still. I also need to figure out what I want to do for a door panel. I want to do something that screws in (not snaps in like factory) and hides all the jacked up cuts that the PO did to mount the speakers. I'm thinking that I'll use nutcerts in some of the original mounting holes with a couple of "guide pegs" to help align it when taking it on and off. I also need to figure out how I want to do the speakers - it's a small truck so I'm probably just going to go with a couple 6.5" speakers with 1" separate tweeters. As for materials, I'm not sure which way I want to go. I can do a simple 1/8" MDF covered with padded vinyl or I have a friend that does really good custom fiberglass work build me one. It's farther down the road, but it never hurts to start planning early (Corey, doing production door panels in your future?????)
Anyway, here are the doors ready for sandblasting:

I can't wait to see you put those into production (if that is the plan) I knew you were the right person for those parts.I might even order a visor from you eventually. Southern California gets a lot of sun!

why YES they are
.
and also , The visors are the 1 outside visor that goes on the roof line , not the inside ones .
I will send you a email .
yes I did , and again , thank you !! .. I phoned the fella right away , and secured the "deal" .. Lucky for me , my Dad was in the area , so it was painless so to speak .
I am building moulds , and I will have them available at some point .. right now , with Scott leaving us , we're just playing catch up ..
and sorry Dave , I'm not wanting to HIJACK your thread .. so get back on it !!

No worries, good information there. Sucks about the outside visor - I definitely do not want one of them. But the Bushwackers, I do! Hustle up on that production - I bet you won't be able to keep them in stock! I'll keep an eye out for an email from you with the total. Thanks!

and speaking of interior visors .. and I guess you haven't been referring back to my trekker build .. but Toyota interior visors are fairly generic . I needed Grey ones for my build , and as we know grey was not a color for this gen. So I used Tacoma visors , Grey .. to match my interior . Fit perfect
edit
opps , and so I was perusing my build thread , and I guess this was a post I didn't post on here ..
