My buddy had a set of those lights on his XJ. They were very nice. I wish I had a set of them haha. They look good it that spot on your bumper. Ian is right, looks like they were meant to be there.

Found this module for $5
http://www.superbrightleds.com/cgi-b...s.htm%23ptstrb

It would be cool to make it, but for that price I think I will give it a shot.
They usually deliver pretty quick.

here's what it looks like:

i like 'em, but the only issue i can see is if you have your 4-ways on. if one is ever so slightly out of sync with the other, it might look odd. but that's just me

thanks for finding those vids Ian
i went ahead and ordered two of them, shipping was only $2.99.
it will be interesting to see how they turn out.

i would love to have these for turn signals, but it probably wouldn't fly

Got the morning to play around on the truck.
Pulled the rear bumPer off so I could do some fiberglass work and see if I really wanted to go ahead with filling in the stock taillight location.
Here is the damage that is kind of prompting the move:

Went ahead and cut the holes for the lights. I found round light grommets that would fit the round lights I was planning on using for back up lights. Went ahead and flush mounted those too.

The two grommets for the turn and brake lights were made by two different companies so I will pick up some more that match. One is a little wider than the other.

Here is how the tail lights mount originally, a major PITA to get to the nuts on the backside of the housing:

there is a much easier way of doing this. i have done it on my friends motorcycle. add 2 diodes (in5400) in the running light & blinker signal wire. Combine the two wires and connect to positive wIre on LED. Neg wire to neg wire on LED. Running light will work and you will have turn signals as well

heres a picture i found, that i used when i did the mod

you're comparing apples to pears (similar, but not the same)

in your circuit, the turn signal is only visible if the parking lights are off. it only blinks the light if the parking light is already off

in my circuit, the turn signal overrides the parking lights. it turns the light on or off with the turn signal, regardless of parking light state

not really. you will be surprised that this actually works. i know how to read wiring diagrams and what not but no expert, just need to know enough when diagnosing electrical issues in cars. anyways, on the bike, the light is always on when key is on no matter what (no switch) acting as a parking light. when we hit the turn signal for left or right, it will flash. it doesnt make sense on paper even to me but after doing it and seeing that it works. it just works lol

huh... this is something i would have to see to believe. did you watch the video of my circuit in opperation?

in your circuit, does the light actually turn off with the turn signal, or just get brighter when the turn signal is on?

(ps- i'm not arguing here. i just want to find out other techniques)

(oc- sorry for the thread-jack. more pages for your thread, eh?)

im sorry too for thread jacking lol

the light does turn off and on when signal is activated. i havent tried this on my runner because i dont mind just the fronts being flashers. i dont see why it wouldnt work on our runners unless the bike is done differently as far as how the signal is controlled. i would try this if i had some diodes but the ones need are hard to find

i am skeptical now...

the diodes used are simple 3 amp rectifiers. you can find similar ones at radioshack (any of the black ones, 3 amps or higher). i think i have some lying around, so i'll have to try it out. based on everything i know about electronics, it shouldn't work. if you could get a video, i'd love to see it

any of those 3 the same specs as the IN5400? i would love to get you a video but unfortunately my friend and his bike both are no longer with us. been a little over a year now. still remember the day i helped him install it. like i said before i dont see how it works either but it does lol. alot of guys on my 600rr forum have done it. i never looked at the wiring diagram on my bike so there might be more to this than i know. theres a few electrical wizards on that forum that came up with how to keep the running lights when using 2 wire led for signals

(it's quiet, turn up the volume)

i tested it out this morning. worked like i thought it would. i guess it's just the bikes' wiring that makes it work

Still working on the fiberglass work, should have some pics up tomorrow.

Waiting for some resin to dry I used a sticker I think my kids bought for me when we were at Disneyland for spring break.
Put a black background first that used the sticker as a stencil than painted the tan camo over the top:

Since I am a grump old fart

The paint run is old...

Finished up the fiberglass work and added all the lights:

Will hopefully get them wired over the weekend..
My fiberglass skills suck. But it is a wheeler and I will probably end up cracking it on a rock or tree sometime
