I havn't been able to figure out a way to mount the console. Might have to ditch that idea. Now I looking at putting a Midland cb radio in my dash where the small storage thing is and getting rid of my big radio below the dash.

I might have fixed my odometer. I took it out and finally got it all apart. Turns out whatever they used to grease the shaft had turned sticky and was holding the gears. I cleaned it all and stuck back together and it all moves freely now. Tomorrow I will probably stick it back in and see if it works.

Cool ideas with the tach and trying to mount overhead console. Not sure what to tell u on them but watching to c if u can do it. If u can dream it u can achieve it. Where there's a will there's a way. One man's problem is another man's solution. Just some words of encouragement. Seriously though, not sure how that console mounts from the factory. The only way I can think would b to run some metal braces from front to back, weld them in so no holes in roof and bolt console to that. Good luck

I was thinking this exact same thing. Factory mounted in the GM vehicles it snapped into the roof with plastic clips. I considered running two thin metal strips front to back that are stiff and wont flex and at then ends I could possibly drill them into the roof of the truck where it is double walled.

Worked on my truck tonight. I got a new cb radio from my wife for v-day, its a Uniden 520XL, and I installed it in my dash tonight. Added an external speaker for it below the air vent. I think it turned out pretty good. Need to find something to cover up the gaps on the side of the radio. Anyone have any suggestions
? Also my alternator belt got some play in it and started squawking so I tightened it back up.
This weekend I am helping my friend put a new Holley 4160, 390cfm, carb on his 89 YJ. It came with a 600cfm with Offy intake on it but its way to much air for the Jeep and causing it to run ruff. Its made for a Chevy truck or something.

Figured out two problems on my truck this weekend:
1.) This crazy noise coming from the engine bay which I thought was the bearings in my alternator going out but turned out to be the alternator itself vibrating in its bracket because the bolt that was suppose to be in the bottom was gone. So the alt was free to move and causing weird vibration noises. Not sure what happened to the bolt. My guess was it had a regular nut on the back that came loose and the bolt fell out or something or maybe I forgot to put it in all together.
2.) The belt on the alternator kept coming loose and squealing which was directly because of problem number 1.
I also welded up a Thrush glasspack on the truck last night. Sounds pretty good so far but only revved it up in my driveway.
I also think I may need to adjust the timing on my engine. It seems to have a small twitch or slight jerk every so often. My friends YJ did the same thing and we re-timed his to 0 and it stopped doing it. Probably try that tomorrow if it's not raining. Then gonna try to tune the carb to not run so rich.

Welded up a new muffler over the weekend. $20 from Autozone.

Last night I installed an SR5 cluster too. Love having a stock tachometer.

Also put a carpet cover on my dash. I will get a picture of that soon.

I'd like to hear what that glass pack sounds like on your truck. I was considering it, but ordered the Welded Turbo Trust instead figuring that it wouldn't be as loud. However, I've heard that people like to use that glass pack a resonator prior to the muffler.
Tach looks good! How was the install process?

The SR5 cluster was actually very easy to install. 83 has a nice write up that explains everything and I did it all in an hour. I still have to set the odometer back to what it needs to be but I tested everything and it works. The only thing is, there isn't a wire in the plug to hook the tach up to. So I stole the one out of the charge light since I have a GM alt and the charge light doesn't work anyways. That was the only problem I ran into. So if you run the stock alternator you need to get a pin from a harness in the junkyard or rob one from something else like I did.
