99% sure that it's a u-joint. I had the same problem with my Tundra, the squeek drove me nuts! I greased the u-joints... Still squeeked. I replaced the carrier bearing (you shouldn't have one if you have a shortbed)... Still squeeked! So I laid under the truck while my wife drove over me (very trusting, that's how much the squeek bothered me) and I could tell it was coming from the u-joints. Replaced the u-joints and no more squeek!!! I was surprised that greasing them didn't even alleviate the squeek.

BTW, have fun pressing those u-joints out, they are a B$@&%!!!

Oh, and also, if you have the squeek in 2WD then it won't have anything to do with your front driveshaft. Just trying to save you the headache of dropping that front drive shaft and fiddling with those u-joints (even more of a PITA than the rear!)

Yea Im thinking u-joints. Its weird I have.a single piece drive shaft in the rear but my truck is a long bed. I guess my grandfather had it replaced while he had it. But now thinking about the grease card thats in the visor it only shows a single piece drive shaft. Im gonna guess its factory that way.

ujoint replacement is way cheaper than carrier bearing anyway (like $15). Even a little easier too! That's good news. If you can tell which one is squeaking, maybe the other one still has a couple of years of service left in it.

Never got it mounted up. Couldnt figure out a way to do it without drilling through the top of the cab.

Hey, curious if u could weld keep slots to the chadsis over the door jam and then up over the windshield, ....then fix the overhead to those?

Or is it front to back type?

I'm considering pulling the headliner out, Its kinda nasty anyways, and this should give me better options to mount it.

Yeah, sorry I couldn't explain well, lol. ... just mean to weld steps of some kind to the roof/lip by the windshield and then in back ..... Then, run a pair of strips of some kind from the front piece to the rear piece. Them you have a rectangular support for the overhead, which you could drillout holes for the mounting of that overhead (I used these great expansion nuts for my rear panels. ....u can rock my rig holding on to them, they are that secure)...And u could maybe get some of that carbon fiber looking headliner, cut it to fit, leaving the rectangle open to mount the overhead. .. Maybe use a Rivgun and put in some eyelets in theliner, to strengthen it, to insert the mounting screws through? Just think out would be a cool mod!

Cool! Lol. ... and, if you want the item# of the expansion nuts, I have it in pb. I even used them to hold up the brake line/splash shield I cut to fit, into an existing hole in the inner fender panel. The fit#8 screws and hold on like a death grip. ... They are the type with the lil lip that expands out once pushed in, then get even tighter as u force a screw through there. U can use shorty screws and never touch the roof..... #8-.50"?

Kinda excited to see someone do this! Lol. ... I've seen some nice ones in vans and SUV's, and I know I could do a side to side...... but I'm a moon roof havin foo ....hahaa, so that is ALL I could do. Even that would be tight and would eliminate my map light and rear view mirror! lol

I'm sure u wanna move on, so thats it, lol. Just like this stuff, like my panels with 6x9's, held in by those nuts and take a huge rattling around town and in Tierra Del Sol already......

Those things are shockingly strong and bonus? They will flex a lil and suchn and wont make nouse as they create a cushion.
