My recovery Strap...

So here's the strap I've been using for the past 10 yrs or so. yeah, I know it's in rough shape. lol

This is the one I've been using for about 3 yrs now. It's a 3 inch 20K lb 20 ft. I've also attached a 3/8" latch hook with a 1/4" 9 link lead chain.

I like it because I can either use the hooks or I can use just the loops. So far no problems and it worrks great.

If I want to use just the loops I hook it to the strap to keep it out of the way or I just take it off all together.

I'd get rid of the "chain" and the "hooks" and use some of these:

so you are just using the 10 year old strap for a demo on not what to use right? If not trash that thing now...cut the hooks off and throw them in the recycle bin.

most organized club runs and many off road areas don't allow the use of chains or tow straps with integrated hooks.

Recovery 101 Link

proper way to tie a nylon strap is to use a water knot.

What Wab said. No chains. No hooks. Use shackles and never double a strap back on itself.

Also, using a chain on the strap may pinch the strap fabric and could weakin the material.
