I have a ton of leave(vacation) on the books so I may go up on Thursday. It should be cooler by then and I dig camping. I think I will actually put the tent up this time instead of just sleeping in a chair under the stars. That did not make for a good nights sleep up there for the Miller Jeep Trail Run.

I really like BB. It is beautiful and lots to do IMO. THe drive up is fun I will have to reconnect the sway bar for that one.

Quick update:

Ttora has a list of 3 different runs with a head count for each run.

http://ttora.com/forum/showthread.ph...6&page=1&pp=30

Please post on there if you are a member otherwise just post here and we'll just make a mental note of it. LOoks like both medium and hard are going to be packed... HOpefully they'll break it into two groups each.

Edit:
Whether or not we ultimately decide to run with them can be decided at a later date. In the meantime we'll all work together and see how many actually show up. Their gathering time is around 9am I believe at the Discovery Center so we should be fine if we camp at Serrano.

Ttora's camping site is not disclosed and I'm not sure if they are making any camping arrangements. Looks like they're either just showing up for the day or drive up sat and head back sun. Regardless we'll have to start looking into camping accomodations soon for those that are camping.

I like the spot we had last year when ESPN showed up to tape some footage with us. I don't remember exactly how to get there though. I'm pretty sure it was a no fee spot and considered primitive. There were alot of trucks and plenty of room for everyone.

As for Serrano, have you looked into the availability? I've camped there before in the summer and it's usually booked well in advance.

I haven't checked Serrano but I"m suspecting it'll be pretty packed as it is. I'm sure the other sites will be more readily available.

Rob, you gonna make it?

There's plenty of room for both groups to camp there, it is very primitive.... in other words you'll need to bring portable toilets or use the bushes....... The upside, it's one heck of a nice place to camp......

How to get there from hwy 38 go up Holcomb valley rd turn right at; N34 18.278 W116 54.601, go left onto 3n43; N34 18.214 W116 54.166, then right at; N34 18.536 W116 53.916, follow the road til you reach a fork, turn left at; N34 18.327 W116 53.409, go past the camp grounds and follow the trails keeping to the right finally making it to the area located here; N34 18.292 W116 53.225.

.
Yeah that spot last year was great. Tons of room and trees to set up camp under.

I am down for rustic camping. With trips to the gas station and to trail heads that is enough of a chance for me to do my business.

Yeah, I'm gonna try, probably bring my daughter with me too. She had a blast at the last desert trip.

Haha I totally agree. I love BB also and the drive up is fun when i'm in my rice rocket but not in the rig haha. I don't think the 22re really likes all the uphill climbing lol!!! I'll probably take Friday off, if i do i'll head up Thursday as well...

Any updates?
When is everyone planning on getting there? I definitely want to do something with the TTORA guys but I also want to do our own thing as well. If everyone is planning on being there friday we could do our own thing sat and then sat evening head over to the TTORA camp and hang out with them and possibly go on a night run with them. Then from there we can decide if we want to ride with them sun or stick to our own thing again. Are many people getting there thurs?

Are we still doing a meet/greet in SD?

It looks like ttora's event is going to be big. Not sure how many groups they will have but it looks like 3 different levels but the hardest group already has over 20+. I've also read that a dozen or so jeeps will be there as well so this will make the trails very interesting.

I'm not too certain if we want to do our own thing or do it with the ttora guys. Personally speaking, I don't mind so long as the groups stay under 10. I mean we need to take into account other groups that may or may not be there so we'll see. Hopefully the ttora coordinators can let us know so we're not in the dark.

I have talked to the TTORA guys on our behalf and they are still cool with us joining them but as Lance said it is getting really big. Maybe we are just getting into something too large to still enjoy ourselves. I also would like to see small groups and that is unlikely to happen with that many rigs. That is just the nature of success for the SOCAL TTORA guys and they should be proud of it.

I am also a member there so stopping bye on Sat night would be very cool. Not to eat up all Jason Demellos food but just to say hey and all that.

Really looking forward to doing some camping with you all. I wonder if there will be camp fire restrictions considering the wildfire risks over there right now?

Mikey you gotta make it out there for this. I am sure you know but it is so awsome! I like wheeling in wooded areas.

Eric,

Whether or not we group up together with them is not the issue anymore actually as it's clearly obvious that there will be many vehicles on the trail. The likelihood that we'll encounter a jam somewhere is inevitable. The difference will be how organized the trip organizers will be by breaking the groups into smaller more managable numbers. Right now there is no clear indication of that and it looks like we're going to have 3 big groups. If this is the case, it may become a long winded adventure that could very well be a quick one if broken into smaller bunches.

Not sure what else we can do to assist but I think there needs to be more clear direction on the group limits etc so we can all enjoy the trails up there. I am certain we'll all have a great time but really don't want to face jams up on the trails as that can significantly damper spirits for some of the newer drivers joining the ranks. Either way, I've picked my group for the day so hopefully the hard group will have two groups instead of the single 23 to date.

Good question. I am going to try and make it up there Thursday afternoon or at least no later than 4pm on Fri so a SD meeting was not in my plans.

Are your travel plans set up to head straight to Big Bear or did you really want to see SD for some reason? With you driving all this way I would be glad to accomodate you however you would like for the meeting place. I think Tanto(Ryan) and I are the closest to the SD area so let us know.

Same goes for me! Turbo, I don't know if you were planning on going through the San Luis Obispo area or up Highway one through Big Sur? If so, you can stay at my place, as I live near SLO.

Awesome!
It will be my first time to Cali so I do kind-of want to see SD, but at the same time I don't particularly want to drive a whole lot longer than I have do due to the other 848909390289473 hours I'll be driving in the next 7 weeks If people want to have a meet/greet I'd be happy to come into SD, but if there isn't much interest I might just meet Eric at BB. I guess it will also depend on Lance due to the fact that he will be supplying me with the adventure pass. I'm down either way...

Austin, I got ya covered one way or another. When you get into LA, we'll meet up way prior to the event so I can give you all of the trail maps of BB and some local AAA maps for ya. At the sametime I'll bring you the pass so you're A-OK for the trip.

Just let me know when you need my 411

Looks like I'll be getting in around tuesday evening. I have an open invite to pebble beach to do some car stuff but I don't think my friends get there until thursday. Not sure if I'm going to be able to swing it. When are the LA guys heading up? Is everyone going together? Do you guys still want to have a meet/greet/BJs?

SloSurfer,
Thank you for the invitation, one of my best friends is moving to SLO next week but he is only partially moving or something.... I don't really know his plans so I'll let you know as I know. I would like to go through there though and check out his new stomping grounds.

Lance,
You will have a PM shortly...
