Lance,
So what is the deal with the adventure pass? Will I need one on the Ex while camping or is it just for rigs hitting the trail?

Thanks!

Adventure Pass is required by anyone that enters the park and stays there. If you are just simply "passing thru" there's really no need for the adv pass. This means that anyone camping on site should get one. It's not that expensive and since I get two (family combo) I'll work this out w/ you so you don't have to incur the dang pass fee. (it's on me).

we'll touch base on this when we get closer to the event.

Should I go? I really don't want to scratch up the powder coating on my Demello sliders or get my car too dirty.

Yo go! You need to be there! We need someone to laugh at!

No really this run is geared for everyone! We don't have super hard trails but we do have fun trails for everyone! Besides what else are you going to do in the middle of August?

This event is getting closer so we'll need to all decide on a camping location. I contacted the discovery center to get the exact rules on the adventure pass and they told me that any vehicle that has purchased a camp site is exempt from purchasing the adventure pass since you already paid a fee. the adventure pass is only needed if you park your vehicle out on the trails and leave it unattended. since we will not be leaving our vehicles unattended on the open trails there is no need for any of us to purchase the adventure pass.

I'm open for any camp site but I'm thinking Hanna Flats might be a good one to try if we have a large enough group. I've never been there but I do know where it is.

Hanna Flat
2-1/2 miles NW of Fawnskin on Forest Road 3N14
Elevation: 7,000 / Spaces: 88/ Water: yes / Spur Length: 40'
Season: May 15th to October 18th / Fee: $20.00 / night

Cool perks:
2nd vehicle fee $5.00 per night
Flush toilets
Pit toilets

If showers are a must then we can do:

Serrano
N Shore Lane off Hwy. 38, about 2 miles E of Fawnskin
Elevation: 6,800 / Spaces: 132 / Water: yes / Spur Length: 55'
Season: April 1st to November 30th / Fee: single $24.00 / double $52 / RV $34

Cool Perks:
Handicap facilities
2nd vehicle fee $5.00 per night
Dump station
Flush toilets
Showers
Electric hook-ups

Now Bruce I told the TTORA guys you would behaive yourself. LOL

Are we still interested in doing this jointly with TTORA? Let me get in touch with them again and see how they are coming with planning. If it gets too complicated to coordinate we can just do our own thing. No big deal Big Bear is... well it is Big and there is room enough for both seperately.

I do know that Jason Demelo and a few other are bringing new FJ's out to the runs. Could be something to see.

From what I read on ttora's site it looks like camping is all on our own so... thus the post I made. If they are coordinating everything then hopefully they'll update their info.

Yeah I just read that also. We should just do our own thing maybe and if we happen to coordinate a run together great. If not oh well.

Thanks for looking into the Pass info for us all!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I second the idea of us putting together our own run. The TTORA guys are cool but man their groups are huge and they are a little on the slow side. Not to say that I do not like running with them but if we put our own agenda together i'm sure it would run a lot smoother and not take up the whole day out there. Just my 02 cents. Hey Eric when were you thinking of heading up, I know it's still pretty far ahead but any idea?

Ideally speaking I wouldn't mind doing a joint adventure with the ttora guys. The only thing I'd like to ensure is having small groups as a large group will cause a big bottleneck at key highlights. Having groups of 10 or less per run would be perfect but that all comes down to how many want to lead each group. If there are more than 1 group going down one trail, staggering it 30-45 minutes will greatly help to keep the flow moving on the trails. Since we're not the only ones that'll be on the trail we'll want to make sure not to inconvenience others there (every time I've gone, I've run into people so I'm just thinking out loud).

Since it's too early to tell what the group sizing will be like, I'd say we stay very flexible and see how their event unfolds. If it looks like it's going to be a large scale group action, maybe we can request for a smaller group with many leaders leading each group. This should help ease the chaos and keep everyone happy.

Interacting with various groups will help bring the offroading community closer so try to coordinate something together. Hopefully Eric can get some communications between both groups and figure this out without them just planning and leading everything.
