I guess I don't understand the idea of this trip. I am a bit slow. I thought it was just another wheeling trip that Mr. Turbodale just happened to be along on to do some videoing of. Is this not the case? Is the BBQ just one of the evening dinners that needs to be organized and sort of hosted if you will?
Let me know because we south of socalers want to help out!

LOL - how about "SD is down the south part of SoCal" or "South of LALA Land"
Now you know why I get lost even with GPS

No way... us souteasterners are post whores at its best!
Eric,
The meet/greets was just there to give everyone a chance to meet (those that haven't been to a meet before) and so we can also talk about where we are going to do, stuff we are going to talk about etc for the film so when we hit the trails everyone has a good idea of what we are getting into. And its a good excuse for us to
no matter what the liquid (for those that don't drink alknamahaul)
All in favor of meeting at BJs say I (and watch your post count climb...
) Those that would rather meet at someone's house or if you are willing to open your home to a BBQ say so also...

Cannot speak for everyone else but I would much rather to the meet and greet/BBQ part out in a camping area. No worries out there and easy laid back environment. And last time we did this at Big Bear a bunch of guys fired up the beasts and did a night run through John Bull. I got to ride shot gun with Bruce for one hell of a ride!
Big Bear camping is awsome! It is Socal but in a pine forest type atmosphere. I can bring lots of Carna Asada and we can do Mexican food or what ever.
I just totally enjoy sitting around a camp fire drinking and eating with good quality people which our group has no shortage of!

"BJ's for everyone...you coming?" (nameless co-worker)
i am looking into getting the use of 2 cabins in fawnskin for the 17/18 through the 20th(otherside of big bear lake) that would handle about 6-10 bodies and double the number of rides on the lot. the guy who has them is a d*** so keep the fingers crossed.
cant remember if there is a BBQ avail, but maybe the debate of propane vs. charcoal could be determined on video???

Awesome,
Sounds good to me guys! If we have two days to shoot this will allow me to have one day primarily shooting interviews and one day to primarily shoot wheeling stuff.
Thats going to be the goal for each place so I'm not too rushed.

Okay. This is gonna be a long post so bear with me.
The TTORA SoCal Staff has contacted me and are Formally inviting us, YT, to join them in Big Bear 18-20 Aug for their official run. I told them that we had this deal with Austin gong on. They replied with: Why not do a huge joint run/weekend?
Austin, this is your deal so it is up to you. I will say that Socal YT and Socal TTORA get along very well and have done lots of runs together with a huge fun factor!
So if you are cool with this then that is what we will do. It really simply means a lot more Yotas out playing in Big Bear and a lot more varied skill level runs which we can handle from our end. I can do all the coordinating with TTORA to make this happen and anybody else who wants to lend a hand would be welcome also.
Concerns would be to keep the individual runs small enough to manage and move along smoothly. Minimize photo stops and keepingser ops in check would also play into this. We all do it but in a big group it gets to sucking with a quickness. TTORA has some minor trail rules for official runs like no drinking onthe trails, which is just common sense IMO. No big deal there.
The camping would be a total blast. On these overnight runs that is usually the best part!
Your thoughts, sirs?

Eric,
You've got pm.
All:
Just a quick note. Everyone will need to get an Adventure Pass. Rules has changed as of 1/1/2006 so please make sure to get one. If you guys are bringing multiple vehicles per family, take advantage of the Family Pass as you get additional decals for only a few bucks more. I personally have the family pass that I always get annually and it's the best thing to have.
We'll get started on the basics/rules in the meantime.

This sounds good. The TTORA crew is a fun bunch. It'll be intersting to show the YotaTech/TTORA camaraderie on the DVD.
But yeah, we'll definitely have to split into small, manageable groups. The trails will work that out somewhat - into the easy and difficult routes.

Totally agree Charles. I was thinking
Easy Run: Totally stock rigs and up.
Medium Run: Sliders and recovery equipment, minor damage posible.
Hard Run: Considerable damage posible, enter at own risk (John Bull type trail)
Lance made a great point also about other Jeep/off road groups on the trails that we need to take into account as far as size of each run. Like he had mentioned 10 is a great number for a run. We can do multiple runs of each trail over the weekend.

It all sounds good to me, but as for keeping photo-ops at a minimum isn't going to be ideal seeing as thats the whole point of the trip
What we could do is have the group that wants to get on film (one day med one day hard) and this group will have to leave a bit earlier than the other groups to allow time for shooting, moving cameras, etc etc... I do however love the idea of showing the intertwining of the two groups and will definitely express that in the DvD.

I know that Austin is going to want to take photos/videos for his documentary so we will have to accomodate for this.
Here are some ideas:
1. small groups at a staggered start for key trails. this will give Austin the ability to sit at key spots where he can engage with each group passing thru and take the necessary videos. This means that we'll have to coordinate with the first and last group to pick up/drop off. I can help with this.
2. Austin can sit with the trail leader and get dropped off and have the tail gunner pick him up. This will cause the group to be slower but nonetheless it gets the job done.
The key for keeping the groups going is having a small enough group. I feel that groups bigger than 10 will cause traffic jams that we'll all too familiar with (esp those that live in LA, haha) so keep that in mind.
I am not sure how many members (TTORA and YT) we'll have combined but I suspect it will be a healthy number. Accomodations at the camp site will also have the organized as the larger the group, the harder it will be get everything at a single location. Hanna Flats I believe is where TTORA had their camp site before.
We'll have to get the key organizers together and have a quick discussion and start setting the basics up. I know it'll all fall in place once that is set.
