best DD/ offroad truck?
what would be your ultimate DD/ offroad rig?
something that has a nice interior, leather, power stuff lol
maybe a factory locker or two, great street manners, good power, some nice mpg numbers lol
ive been tossing this idea through my head since ill be graduating college in the next couple of months
heres my list in no particular order (limited since id only have the cash i get from my truck)
Tacoma TRD, FZJ80, 4runner with locker, wrangler, grand cherokee, frontier nismo, id even say a nice TDI with a vegetable oil conversion (nice interior and nothing wrong with free fuel and 50mpg lol)
so what would be on your list?

If your hard pressed to get leather, get alimited 4R or an FJZ80. personally I hate leather in the winter.
For DD and offroad, I would go with a 89-04 1/2 pickup or tacoma. I garuntee you will miss that bed back there with an SUV. take that from a 4Runner owner who knows.

used to drive a really good offroad weekend warrior/daily driver. My 90 pickup served me well on and offroad. Had 33" tires 24 mpg on a good day and took me where i wanted to go. Loved that truck.

Those raptors are badass!!!!!
I'd rock an f30 powerstroke diesel. Then I could tow my rig. If I had the money maybe an f650 just cause I can

From: Nashville TN. I can help you if you're close BUT NOBODY CAN HELP YOU IF YOU DON'T FILL YOUR LOCATION IN!
The words "FzJ80" and "nice MPG" never go together
You'll get 15-16 TOPS highway MPG... About 10-12, city. And that's often with new (only use OEM) O2 sensors.
The only killer of the 80 to me is MPG. (But me and my friends are working on that
)
But they did come with a front and rear E-locker option.
And they are soooooo nice....

Unibody = No.
My GF's AWD, NO center locking diff limited(?) V8 gets 16.2~16.8 average according to the factory MPG meter.
Get an impeccably built, 89-95 4Runner and swap a Diesel or 3.4 in.
You can use all the Mini truck tricks, it'll ride good and it's got just as much build quality and attention to detail as a Land Cruiser 80 series.

I'll never purchase anything from K&N again if this is how they are going to promote their products^^^you know those city slickers are dreaming about cruising through the Macy's parking lot in that thing.

since you're graduating college soon, you'll most likely be strapped for cash, so used vehicle would be a good choice. i'd go for a 4door Tacoma or a 4runner as a good DD and build it up for the trails as money permits. You could easily pick up one and mildly build it up for under $10k if you watch your spending. 80-series would be a great choice as well, and are pretty affordable, but like said the gas mileage sucks and they're underpowered for how heavy they are. even in a 100-series (not the best for serious offroading) with the 4.7L the gas mileage sucks - ours get around 16 hwy MAX...and takes premium.
