If you spray gas into the carb does it start right away? In line electric pumps are cheap, this solved a similar problem I had with an old b2600 I had.

I would say it is a good possability. Is it an electric pump? pull the intake line off of the carb and let it pump into a clean container. see if it is pumping well. If it is an electric pump it will be full power all the time, using the bypass to bring excess back to the tank. If it is a mechanical pump it will vary with engine speed, but it needs to be running to see fluctuation.

My friend had the same problem with his 74 dodge dart. Fuel was slowly seeping out of the bowl through a bad idle screw I think. Once it is running, is it easy to start right away? how long does it take to "not start"? Let the bowl fill, turn it off, and wait and look for the leak.
