A few absolutely basic/newbie questions

Hey there everyone,
First of all, I'm glad I've found this site. Very helpful. This is my first step in creating my dream truck.
Second, I've got a few very basic questions about my truck. I have a 1998 Toyota T100 6CYL 2WD Ext-Cab with 90,000 miles on it. Could anyone point me to a website or article covering the very basics of my truck (or offroad type trucks in general)? I have searched this forum, but most of the articles seem too specific for my general questions. For instance, I have a very limited knowledge of working with automobiles, so I'd like to learn some of the terminology. Could anyone show me where to start? Much appreciated.

Here's a picture. Low-res due to file size constraints.

I want my truck to have better offroad performance, and just better performance in general. Maximum fuel efficiency/smooth handling/etc.

Do keep in mind you have a 2wd. Thats doesn't mean you can't have fun off road but just keep that in the back of your mind when you leave pavement

Yeah, I understand that. I don't intend on doing anything too technical.

On another note, I've heard that the rear leafs on the T100s are pretty bad. Can someone confirm this?

And one more thing: I've been using 4Wheelparts.com to look at potential upgrades. Anyone got any other suggestions, or better websites? Thanks fellas.
