not everyone is requesting one The AUTO 4runner that i use here will not work well with a dyno. You will not notice the difference as much as you would with a 5spd one.

People look at peak HP/TQ to much instead of the DIFFERENCE in power which has led to confusion.

The newer 4spd autos in the tacoma are easier to control vs the auto in the 3l's

Tim - that video was shot with your idle at about 900-1000rpm? Mine sounds just like that at that idle range. However when I put my auto in gear i notice the rpms drop to about 400-500rpm and holy God you want to talk about LUMPY!

Johnny - Got any ideas why the idle drops in half when in gear? (It only does it when hot, and im assuming there is some sort of idle up the ecu is supposed to do...)

BTW - I raced a lifted 7.3L powerjoke today....I whooped his azz!!

idle

Hi Bumpin! hey congrats on your racing win today! Jay thanks for your comments about my axle! johnny did it for me free of charge after he installed the cams yep I drove up north today and the engine is now happiest at 80MPH and there is room for more accel, I noticed I have been speeding a lot more lately as it is so much fun and I should be more careful.
as far as the idle goes, I think that my ECU is getting used to the new airflow, after johnny changed the timing belt and corrected the timing, I had to back out the idle speed screw a bit until it was flush at 800.
now I notice that the idle cuts down and is a bit lumpy after I rev it pretty high, but this also happened after the LCE bored tb was put in, for about a week, until the ECU learned it and then it was solid at 800 all the time. I'm thinking that in about a week the ''runner will have learned the new cams and will have compensated. also I'm driving a manual which may be a bit different?
for the video I'm going to make next I'm going to rev it to about 5000+RPM instead, unfortunately I'm alone so it will be from the cab, maybe what I'll do is go for a drive on the highway with the camera in my lap and see what happens...

Bumpin
There is no electronic Idle up control in the 3vz-e's it actually replys on your coolant temp alone which changes the amount of airflow that goes into the engine. Im unsure as to why it would drop so much...except i would check your IGN timing to make sure its bang on or else it will affect it a bit (i noticed that on my test 4runner here which is auto as well was off by 2 deg retard and it lugged at idle). Also is the idle adjustment screw in place properly? Tim moved his out just a wee bit and it is sitting alot nicer now. 7.3L...what a waste of DSL

Tim,
Go into the engine bay and find the TB, now look at where the throttle cable hits the TB you can put your hand on that little knob thing and twist it, thats how you can rev the engine from the engine bay. Just give it some nice turns and you will hear the engine go nuts I will do the same on the 4runner out here and my camm'd 3.4L tacoma for comparison (<---LOUD AS HELL!)

Glad you are enjoying the cams guys! Want a supercharger?

When revving while parked, place the camera on the ground near the exhaust pipe rather than setting the camera on your lap. Wind that engine up as well I want to hear the difference these cams make. Weasy is there still a stage 2 in production? And what's this you're saying about a supercharger?

Hehe its up in the air still, but got several ideas

Stage 2 cams are already on paper and is possible to make however i have to do some research on the stock valve springs and shim information to make sure it will all work out in the end.
