Weasy's Cams for 3vze.

What about the power steering box? won't it be in the way?
You might want to go to a remote oil filter while you re in there if you have'nt already it sounds like you're going to loose all the space to get at it.

I was planning on keeping the passenger side manifold, oem crossover and the existing flange from crossover, and the flange from the driver's side manifold. Then only using the actual flange(s) since they are separate from the driver's side oem manifolds. (Lots of grinding in my future.) From there it will be picking up the turbo, positioning it, and being really creative to get it to fit.
It's a little difficult to put into words what Ive decided to do but there is still some things I have to work out yet as well.

I think I get the jist of what you have in mind...
If you are removing things at all you might want to consider putting some header wrap on the cross-over. With the turbo your EGTs are going to get hotter increasing the chance of burning the #6 valves, the wrap might help a little.

Hi Thrice. YES the cams are still available, directly through the manufacturer.

Ask to speak with Geoff and mention that you're looking for the 3vze cams that sea2sky tuning sold in Vancouver.
I can't speak highly enough about these cams. The idle and torque are sweet. After several years, I still stick with my strong opinion that the 3vze (manual trans) is an amazing engine if you do:
-Cams
-Headers
-ISR Intake Pipe (keep stock air box and AFM: just replace pipe)
I don't even want to upgrade to a 3.4 anymore. I am very happy with my 3vze.
I often prefer driving the modified 3VZE to my 2UZFE Sequoia (no headers on that yet).
Good luck and I hope you get the cams!
PS. for those interested in upgrading to 1mm oversized engnbldr valves after you install the Colt (weasy) cams, here are some more specs (after a long talk with engnbldr and Geoff from Colt). Any errors are my own.
-------------------------
These are 1mm o/s valves: Head sizes are 43mm intake and 36mm exhaust, stem diameter is 8mm, OAL is 4.10" exhaust and 4.10" intake.
These accept the factory retainers, springs, and locks.
re: o/s valve clearances with colt cams: should be no problem with piston to valve clearance.
"1mm=40,000", and on the radius you are looking at 20,000 per extension on either side of the valve. This is such a small amount, that there should be no problem.
“Be cautious when taking off/putting on the intake cam (left bank). Be especially careful on removal and installation. because the thrust flange is very thin, and if the cam gets caught just a little bit, it will crack that flange. Be sure to make sure that it comes out evenly. That is where a lot of guys make a mistake, because the cradles will crack. The exhaust is not as crucial, it never breaks. the intake is so thin though, and is a tight tight fit. They are very expensive to replace"

Haha don't feel bad, almost every one of mine ends up edited, because I always forget to put something in. Too much of this
I guess.

shoot didn't realize no one knew where to find the cams! I haven't been following the threads lately, but I got alerted to this thread 'cuz I was subscribed back in the day! If you want those cams give Geoff a call. He is a super nice guy. These cams are crazy nice. Just yesterday I was listening to the idle and I think it's getting even better with age. It's got a kind of off-beat rhythm to it that makes me really happy. Love my '92

Look, I'm just super-excited to know I don't have to go through DOA to finally get some. Somebody called toyotaperformance and they wanted some ungodly amount for theirs, which they're probably getting from DOA anyways. I believe it was in the $800-$900, just less than a grand, price range. AS IF! I've also been meaning to get ahold of a company near me in Portland, OR,(CHS Machine Co.)that sells a "Hi-Pro" 3VZE with high lift/duration cams in it. Which I strongly suspect are from DOA as well, same specs. And we all know why we don't want anything from DOA. So, I've been holding onto hope for the Colt cams option to become a reality. Now that it has, STOKED CITY BABY!!! SIGN ME UP!!!

Yeah, I've got a problem with that too. And I'm super-anal about spelling, and too dumb to download/use the spellchecker.

Hey no problem aviator! Now I just hope that Geoff will still have them!
It's my thinking, that Geoff may have to make some new ones off the master profiles for the 3vze.
If you guys are interested, I would recommend making a list, and having everybody who wants them, buy them at the same time. This would make it much more interesting for Geoff to run a batch of cams off the master profile, rather than making 1 at a time, which might irritate him (and he might not do it at all if there are too few). Economy of scale and all that.
How many think that you might want a set? Is it just you aviator, and you mudhippy? I also have weasy's contact info and could find out if he has any left (not sure if he's been posting on YT lately). Either way, I hope you both get these cams because they rock. Let me know if I can help...and feel free to call Geoff on your own (I posted his # earlier). Good luck!

Oh I hate you guys spending my money and delaying this build......GRRRRRRRRRRRR
Not much experience with the 3vze....have driven it only about 10 miles in just under 2 years (see my son's build thread in my sig) and was not disappointed in the power but have read enough on this forum to realize I / we will be disappointed.
Going to start clicking around to read more about these cams. very MUCH interested in the prospect of opening the performance of this motor up a bit more. Doug Thorley headers are already here and waiting to be installed, motor is out and mostly disassembled and all are anxiously awaiting the day the motor goes back in.
EDIT:....pertinent question........PRICE???
