Temperature gauge reading low
#21
Guys, care to share what system you have and where your sender / thermocouple is mounted?

Mine started to do the same on my SR5 instrument cluster. I read to clean the gauge backside contacts. I removed the cluster and backing (easy to do) then spray the water temp (I did all of them) with electrical contact cleaner. Had a small artist paint brush with long soft bristles I soak with cleaner to get into all the tight spots. It fixed the low reading. Might not work on yours, but at least you'll have clean contacts now.

I'm just paranoid about the temp reading because my old truck's temp, a 1992, would read 1/4 on the dash. It was my first vehicle and I didn't know much. Still don't but not afraid to learn. Anyway, that truck had a bad fan clutch and I didn't figure that was causing my intermittent overheating issues until it was too late. Ended up have a spark plug frozen. I put a sleeve in there but I wasn't happy and questioned the truck being reliable at that point.
That being said, I would like my temp gauge to read accurately! Maybe I'll have to do some aftermarket gauges too.
