I say READ

But first, you could try searching...ill quit being an ass now, quick test.
Unplug the TPS, if its running bad when it IS pluged in, and better without it pulgged in, its most likely the culprit.

BTW, whats your truck doing, like why did you take it to a mechanic in the first place ?

and on a less serious note...

the TPS is the Throttle Position Sensor- it tells the ECU how far open the throttle is so that it can calculate how much fuel to inject. The ECU can also use the TPS to determine whether the throttle is opening quickly, like you're stepping on it hard, and inject some extra fuel like the accelerator pump does for a carburetor, and if the throttle is closing, it'll cut fuel to reduce emissions.

In 91Toyota's defense, he knows the answer- he spent weeks trying to get a truck running better and has been through the testing procedures and such for the TPS many times. I think he was just trying to be funny....
