so frustrated

Hello gents,

So I am now getting power to my fuel pump (before it wasn't) however it still sounds like it's not getting fuel and will not start (91 22re pickup base model 5speed). She sounds like she wants to start but just wont catch. When I put the ecu from my 94 in and she will fire immediately, when I put the 91 ecu back in, it only cranks and I have tried two seperate ecus for a 91. All relays and fuses seem to ohm out within spec, power is where it should be, I am at a loss for what the next step is. This really needs to get fixed as I am still using my wife's car in the mean time. Thanks again.

Get a 94 ECU and put in it...

Have you tried starting fluid yet? Pull the intake open the throttle plate and give it a shot, if it fires off (its gonna die that's OK) you've got a fuel issue either delivery by the pump system or injection..

Check the fuel pressure and return flow volume.

If you get nothing put a timing light on it and verify you have spark, check the ignition base timing..

Maybe your used 91 ECU was a dud also..

Compare the 91 to the 94.. are all the line voltages the same when the key is placed in the run position? What about the resistance on the ECU pins when unplugged from the harness? Both of these will lead towards ECU faults.

The 94 uses a different ecu, so it's not a straight across swap. I repulled codes and got a tps circuit, where earlier I didn't have any codes. So guess im headed back outside to look.

started, roughly

I don't have means of getting a fuel pressure gauge unfortunately. However the throttle body was not seeming to work right as there was a half inch gap b\w the throttle leer and throttle stop that . Got that fixed up and it's running but rough. If I feather the throttle she will review up and as that happens I get a code 51. Haynes says that's a "switch signal", air conditioning (which is completely removed by previous owner), or tps. If I get anything other than the 51. Its just a steady flashing cell and I have no idea what that means. I'm guessing I may have put the tps back in wrong maybe,? Do the tabs on the throttle body sit inside of the slots inside of the tps? They wouldn't mate up like that. Is there any easier way of getting to the tps mounting screws other than taking the whole body off? Thanks again everyone.

The tps goes in rotated clock wise a bit then rotates counter clockwise untill it contacts the throttle body mechanism... Then you set the idle contact to spec, cinch it down and double check it..

You can do all this with a 90° screwdriver, they are about 3-5$ at home depot, designed for installing door handle/latches. You can get a fancy ratcheting set from Walmart for about ten.. You can rig up your own with a driver bit, quarter inch wrench, and some hot glue..
OR replace the Philip head with Allen key and just use one of those..

Pretty sure mine still only has the top one in place..

Thanks Co94, I trued unsuccessfully with an offset screwdriver so I ended up taking it all loose and struggling with setting the position. When I get off shift it will be dismounted and everything set to mark on the bench then remount it as I imagine it was put back a little bit out of whack when I was fumbling around with it. Thank you everyone again.
