Replacing sliding windows on shell

Someone busted out the driver's front sliding window on the removable top on my 4R before I got it, and the PO replaced it with a piece of plexiglass and most of the stock latch assembly. It doesn't quite look, seal, or lock quite right though, so I'm looking to replacing it with a stock window. I found one at the junkyard today, but I couldn't for the life of me figure out how to get it out of the frame without destroying one or the other. And even to get to that point, I had to pull the whole window frame out of the shell, breaking the goo seal that held it in.

How would one go about replacing this window without damaging one's truck?

BTTT. Surely this isn't that uncommon?

may be easier to pull the whole window out and reseal it with urethane.

There is a half dozen or so pages in the FSM covering the replacement procedure.

You will have to remove the entire frame ('goo' and all) To get the windows in and out. Once you have the frame out it's just as easy to just put the whole replacement window, frame and all, back in.
Not too complicated, be carefull not to crack the fiberglass while prying out the frame. WD-40 does a prettygood job of disolving the Butyl Tape.

Be carefull, good luck!

NAPA, Car Quest, just about any decent auto parts store. Make sure you get the right size. I haven't found anything that is .24 inches. But 1/4 inch Butyl tape is close enough. (.25 inches) Thats what I used on mine anyway.
Good luck!
