Just what year ??

your talking about the hatch window it seems .

It does not work from either the console switch or the switch in the hatch.

Have you checked for voltage at console switch.

While you had the cover why did you not check the motor by applying power to it direct from a 12 volt DC source??

One of the locks or safety switches could have failed.

The switch itself in the console.

Broken or damaged wires going into the hatch.

Sorry it a 94
Rear hatch and console swith both not working
As of right now can't open the rear unless I do it from inside to get to the motor
Didn't think at the time to check the motor
When I had it apart the wires all looked good and I lube all the rails and gears with light grease.
I have to get it apart this weekend and try the 12v to the motor

I had the same problem. Mine turned out to be the rear wiper.

My buds did similar to you plans on building later model 4rnr from parts of his 80-81 built truck. By far a better option than selling rig then sourcing parts to built 4rnr. Will save paying twice for same/similar parts.

I had the same issue in my '92, I checked the console switch and it had a bad connection. All we did was clean it up and reconnect it, works like a dream now!

if it happens simotaneusly to the console switch and gate key, and both up and down, i would look into the rear wiper. when it stops working, pull the header trim off and test the park contact at the plug. mine read high, and would only work sometimes and a little better when i parked itby hand, but it ohmed fairly high. use white notebook paper to clean the contacts only and make sure it is still lubed when you are done..
