Just went to jefferson city mo. yesterday. About 4 hours round trip and close to 200 miles. Mods to my truck are in my sig. Ran well at 21 MPG. This is a true mixed driving condition since i started in the city of st. louis for half of this tank and took the trip driving through several small towns and my destination was a city as well. I'm very happy with that number!

89 4Runner, 3.0 v6, 318,000mi , 5spd, 31"x10.50", stock gearing

I average about 17mpg, thats about 60%highway doing 65-75mph, 30%city and 10%off road in 4x4.

Seems nobody likes the v6, guess I got a lucky one.

Im pretty happy with my 3.0. Apart from the costly head gasket havnt really had a problem. I just put on manual hubs, wonder if that makes a difference. Havnt had a chance to run the tank to empty yet, but last week I was sitting at 240miles and still had 1/3 tank left. That was about 80% town and 20% highway driving and taking it real easy (like going to 5th gear in a 60-70kmh zone). Usually I only get 260 or so around town so looks like its made a difference.

Back on here after a long hiatus.

Got 18.6 mpg on a 1500 mile trip from MD to TN R/T 3 weeks ago. Just went over 250,000 miles during the trip (32,000 miles on a full rebuild). Usually get @ 16 mpg overall with 4:10 gears & 32" tires~

1997 4runner SR5 5-speed all stock. 265/70/16s Pathfinder 'SUV' tires aired up to 30 psi. Not sure what differential gearing i have.

I drove like a grandpa for two weeks (rarely revving above 2000 rpm) and i pissed a lot of people off. (Keep in mind i just bought this and was a bit worried about fuel mileage). I got about 280 miles before the low fuel light came on and got about 14.3 gallons in the tank. Did the calculation and it was 19.5! I was stunned. These were mainly all town miles. Driving back from Denver on the interstate at 75 it only got about 19. It was revving to hell at 2900 rpm the whole time though.

'91 'Runner, 3.0 5 speed, ADD, 200650 miles. Bone stock, no mods. I don't drive hard as a rule, sometimes 75 miles per hour on the hi-way, but usually 70. I'm the kind of guy that would just as soon run the secondary roads if I have the opportunity. Highway mpg is typically 20-22, although last week drove 93.3 miles, took 3.174 gal., speed averaged 62-65 miles per hour. Half of the miles were slowly loosing elevation and not a breath of wind, ambient temp 68 degrees. Yep, filled it up and couldn't squeeze in another pint. Blew me away! The mileage gods were playin' with me, I'm sure. Winter drops me into the 16-18 mpg range as does all town/city driving. Mid-grade will generally get me another mile or so.
Regards

Last 2 fill ups I got 23.8 MPG in the truck. (22re). I've since been involved in an accident and have a cracked exhaust pipe before the O2 sensor, so my mileage may go down a bit.

1997 4runner 5vzfe 5spd 4x4, no lift. 175,000. synthetic engine oil. Pathfinder SUV tires. Just got 19.8 mpg the other day. Here's the kicker: I rarely rev above 2,000 rpm . But that was all mixed driving, mostly around town and back and forth to school. I made sure to go two clicks on the nozzle to make sure it was full. I actually get about the same on the highway, maybe a little worse because everyone knows these Runners crank pretty fast....Especially on the interstate.
