Tips to PASS California Smog....
My 1989 Toyota SR5 V6 truck was a certified CA GROSS POLLUTER...until I used CRC Guaranteed to Pass formula. To pass smog, you MUST:
-Get an oil change(eliminates dirty, unburned oil fumes out the tailpipe)
-Tune up(new plugs, wires, cap/rotor)
-Run Super Unleaded 91 octane fuel(burns cleaner)
-Get catalytic converter very HOT(run at freeway speeds)
-Wash engine(runs cooler)
-Top off all fluids(especially coolant)
The CRC formula was my trucks' very LAST HOPE. If it failed again...I was going to sell it to the wreckers. After all, the truck had a full life at 227,000 miles. I did everything the directions asked and ran CRC through my entire fuel tank. On the day of the test - I drove the truck at 80+ miles per hour on the freeway for a full 30 minutes before the test. Below are the FINAL RESULTS:
Hydrocarbons(HC/PPM)
15mph @1628RPM MAX=127 MEASURED=26
25mph @1562RPM MAX=108 MEASURED=16
Carbon Dioxide(C02/PPM%)
15mph @1628RPM MAX=0.55 MEASURED=0.03
25mph @1562RPM MAX=0.69 MEASURED=0.03
Oxides of Nitrogen(NoX/PPM)
15mph @1628RPM MAX=1031 MEASURED=115
25mph @1562RPM MAX=891 MEASURED=115
What do the above numbers say? It means the additive product literally SAVED MY TRUCK!!! Not only did it get low, like new car numbers...the entire fuel system and spark plugs are squeaky-clean again. Doing ALL the above is the ONLY reason why I got such crazy LOW emission figures! Verdict? Maintain your vehicle and it too, can pass the World's STRICTEST emissions standards(California).
If CRC ever wanted me to do a TV commercial for their wonderful product...I would GLADLY DO IT FOR FREE!!!
It's THAT GOOD. Final mileage = 24.2mpg 1989 3.0 VZE 227,634miles, original cat/exhaust...

I average between 15-17mpg on highway or 12-14 on city streets.
80% highway driving, never driving over 65mph, 60mph @ ~2300rpm, 40mph @ ~1500rpm
20% city driving. A lot of stop and go, bumper to bumper.
Acceleration from 0-60, about 10 seconds.
1995 4Runner 3.0L V6 SR5 4-speed Auto 2WD
31" Bridgestone Dueler H/T on stock 15" rims
3.90 gears
5,000 mile engine oil change intervals using Mobil clean 5000 10-40W.
Almost time to Seafoam!

New guy here:
89, Pick-up, 3.0, 4WD, 265/75R16, 5spd
19.0MPG tank avg, mix city and hwy driving (shifting around 2500rpm for the entire tank)
When I 1st got the truck I was averaging 16.5 (even after a full tune-up), then I started shifting at the lower rpm and the mileage picked up to 19.0.
On a side note, I've had the truck for 2 months and 4K miles, its my DD. its my 1st Toyota and I'm really liking it, really solid for a 21YO truck.
I'm looking forward to the next 100K miles.

For future posts on this thread:
If you're going to chime in on this subject, might I suggest the following infomation be included?
Pickup or 4Runner (if pickup, reg. or Xtra cab)?
22RE or 3VZE?
Manual or automatic?
Tire size?
Diff. ratio?
2WD or 4x4?
Aftermarket mods?
All of these variables make a difference in your MPG's. Without all of this information, estimates are kinda useless, since the rest of us will have no idea if it might apply to our vehicle. Think about it for a second.
To those who DO include the aforementioned info: Thank you.

'91 4runner, 3vze, 5 spd, 31" tires, ranchos, no lift. My typical commute is 60/40 highway/city. When purchased 2010/6/2- 16mpg(avg). Did oil change, new spark plugs and manual hub conversion- 18-20mpgs. Recently did ISR mod, but still on first tankful since-predicting at least 21mpg.

also, while were on the subject of mileage, i wanted to pose a question to ya'll...
does a specific brand of gas seem to work better for your truck?
with my old '90 3.0 4x4, it seemed to run better and definitely got better gas mileage off of conoco 87 octane. my T100 likes conoco, but normally i fill with shell, which it doesn't get as good of mileage off of. i run premium in it no matter which brand i use in the T100, but it just seems to like conoco better.

heh, both of our vehicles the truck and the bmw do not like turkey hill or sheetz gas. Everything else seems to be about the same. Truck usually gets 87 but i do add some 93 every once in a while. The BMW gets 89 or 91 all the time.

old 22re with stock gearing and 32x11.5 got 13 city in the winter and 19-20hwy in the summer
new 22rte with 33s and stock gears got 17-18hwy in the summer boosting at 3psi for about 60% of the trip
