1990 pickup, 2WD, 5 speed, standard tires, clogged EGR, over 330K miles, original clutch, original everything except starter, alternator, & fuel pump, 70 to 90 MPH on interstate, consistently 26.2 to 28.6 MPG.

When I used to daily drive my 87 4Runner, on 31" ProComp A/T's, bone stock 22re/5speed - I got a consistent 20 mpg.
I know this because my fuel gauge was broken, and I had to - without fail - always fill the tank up all the way, reset the trip meter, and keep mileage records... or I was screwed

92 4rnr bored/rebuilt 3.0 auto 40-flowmaster ISR mod 265/75/16 4.56...
when it decides to run smooth- i average 18-21mpg. other times- about 14-16.
when her motor croaks, i plan on a V8 swap for even worse mpg. lol

this doesn't make sense, lots of people are saying 14-17 with a 3.0, 31" tires, ect.. my truck barely gets 15 on the highway and consistently gets 12 around town, but no codes are showing and ive almost gone through the whole truck.

I just bought a '93 4wd Ext. Cab pickup with the 22re, 5 speed manual, unsure as to what rear end gears I have. I put new 235/75R15 tires on it. Everything is stock and original w/ 186K miles. My first real test of milage yesterday when I filled up came to 21.4 mpg. I think that it pretty darn good for an old truck with that many miles.

20-22 around town in the winter, bit better in the summer. Just got back from a highway trip that returned 26.1, running 65-70MPH and including two snowy passes in 4-high. Quite pleased, this is the best highway mileage I've had on winter gas.
22R-E with 248k miles on original motor, 5-speed, Thorley header (best boost to mileage so far) Engnbldr 261 cam, 235/75/15 tires.

ok guys here is one for ya, i used to get 300 miles per tank around 20 constantly and now im down to 220 miles per tank if im lucky but the truck has more life than it ever has as soon as the milage went down the power went up, any ideas?

You're clearly running a lot richer than you were, that's why you have more power and worse mileage. Why are you running richer? Who knows?

Although I'm unsure about the power increase I know that fuel millage goes down with the introduction of the "winter" fuel that some states use. Crap my millage drops every winter here.

Best i ever got was 25 mpg all highway with old oil, intake/battery swap, shorty header and flowmaster 40 at 60mph. usually around 22 mpg on highway though.
BUT, just put in new motor with engnbldr's 268 and OS valves. Excited to see what the change will be.
