Drumroll for crappiest milage of the year... 10.3 MPG. Its not the truck really, its the time of the year. Last year I got under 9MPG on the same week. Usually I get 15 MPG combination driving.

85-90 % freeway @ 70MPH
22MPG average ?
Could the 5spd make that big a difference ???
I thought "tailgate down" was just a myth ?

In my 90 toyota P/U 4x4.I got 22re,4.11,31 inch tires. I get 20 MPG on the highway. And around 15 in town. This new truck is the best. And everything works on it to. unlike my primer 83 that got 10 mpg highway. But that is a other story.

Iposted b4 and I was wrong about my numbers. I get about 280 miles out of 16 gallons of gas, so as it would seem I am getting about 17.5 average mpg.

I have a 1995 SR5 with a 3.0 3VZE and 5 speed manual. I get about 300 miles to ONE TANK OF GAS, more or less depending on my driving style...I believe the capacity of the fuel tank is 17.2 gallons, which works out to about 17.44 MPG. BUT, I don't drive it to completely empty...300 miles is about as far as I've pushed it, and the fuel lite came on between 20 and 30 miles before I stopped to fill up. That's for about half highway and half city driving. I don't remember how many miles I got the last time I took it on a trip.

**Thanks, jmcgowan, for pointing out my mistake!!

fuel

Im a New driver and just started to drive my 91 yota std cab 4x4 5spd, it failed aircare, so i cant get plates yet. So i drove it for a day and a half on the day insurance, full tank (60L) got me around 380km, however i didnt run her out of gas yet (insurance ran out), got about 1/8 of a tank left. It has the good old 22re too. I was hitting many big ass hills, pealing out oops, lots of city driving (stop go stop go), 5 mins on hwy, had her pinned a few times, and even some 4x4inf in. Seems to run great, its my first yota 22re so im not sure what to expect, but moves alright. sorry im Canadian and didnt have time to convert into imperial crap.

Trouble with metric system???

I think a forum like this to provide comparative information is only useful if the information is comparable.

Could we Canadians please convert our fuel consumption into miles per US gallon, that seems to be the majority here.

some conversion factors:

3.78 litres = 1 US gallon
0.62 mile = 1 kilometre

so... If you get 468 kms on 55 litres...

thats 468 * 0.62 = 290 miles.
55 litres / 3.78 = 14.55 US gallons
290 / 14.55 = 19.93 miles per US gallon.

in Canadian gallons...
miles are the same, 290 miles
55 litres / 4.55 = 12.08 Cdn gallons

290 / 12.08 = 24.00 miles per Cdn gallon

Those are the facts.

I am from Canada, and I think in litres per 100 kilometres. Lower number is better. No one else on this thread thinks that way. I won't bother trying to make everyone else think like me.

Lets just all try and provide useful, comparable information.

Jiggs.

since my origional post i've done exhaust long tube header and 2.25" all the way back with a flowmaster, plugs, wires, cap, rotor, valve adjust, battery relocate, cold air intake with k&n, and new TPS, i'm averaging around 26 +/- 50% gravel roads, 25% town, 25% highway. not bad considering i started at 11.6!
