Stock 4.56s, 33x13.50s, & R150F. RPMs are a bit higher at highway speeds than the auto was but it's a perfect combo for a DD. Going back to 35x12.50s in the next few months so we'll see if there's a difference in mileage.

Just drove my truck back home, from Salem, Oregon to Temecula Valley, California.
Start: fill up at 2979 Market Street NE, Salem Oregon: 12.804 gallons (filled the tank, is the start point for travel)
Filled up at 338 County HWY A12, Grenada California: 13.353 gallons
- 288.3 miles. 13.353 gallons used: 21.59 mpg
Gas at 6100 Airport Blvd, Sacramento California: 8.574 gallons
- 240.2 miles. 8.574 gallons used (not a full tank)
Filled up at 20033 Sommerville Lane, Coalinga, California: 13.173 gallons
- 205.7 miles. 13.173 gallons used
- - 240.2 (previous leg) + 205.7(current leg) = 445.9 miles
- - 8.574 gallons (previous leg) + 13.173 gallons (current leg) = 21.747 (previous+current)
- - 445.9 miles. 21.747 gallons used: 19.50 mpg
Filled up at 350 Stephens Ave, Riverside California: 12.067 gallons
- 242.9 miles. 12.067 gallons used: 20.12 gallons.

Once again, I'd have to say better than 20 mpg on the highway.
And if you're wondering, I stopped the mpg calcs in Riverside because that's the last place I filled before arriving home. I'll upload the receipts for fuel if you want to verify. Mapquest, Bing, Google Maps, etc. should validate the travel distances.

I got 344 miles outta the tank before I threw in another $20 (6.xxx gallons) to last till payday. Today, cost me $54 to fill it up. 16.xxx gallons. 497.8 miles. Grand total of 22.63 gallons; comes out to 21.997 mpg. Not bad considering my average speed was 24 mph, my idle time was around 6 hours, moving time- not sure I cleared it before I looked. Can't complain. Sure beats the 13 mpg our Durango gets.

Took a trip into the Angeles Crest; TONS of inclines and TONS of turns, often 15MPH.... takes basically 2 hours to drive 50Miles... Went to the back side of the Angeles Crest mountains, 4Wheeled quite a bit, then back through the same canyon stuff for 50 miles or so, to fill up..... got 19.78MPG. The key, I'm starting to think, is 'NO STOPPING', hahaha. Redeth got 16MPG in his 3VZE.... Newly rebuilt, etc. SOooooo, ... I guess the 'Canyon Drives' aren't as hard on Gas as I thought.

Gonna have to test out the Highway Miles again, soon, on my next trip to Havasu... See what's shakin out by then.

PS> This DOES include the 18 Miles on Frwy to meet Redeth, a member on here, just before we headed up into the mountains.

Hey JMC.... where you at?(location/Generally speaking, at least?)

It's the long stretch of mountains that run from, basically, the 14Fwy and even a bit further over to Azusa/605frwy, up and over into the Palmdale/Littlerock/Pearblossom side of the mountain.. . So Tujunga and such, over to nearly San Bernadino area/heading toward Big Bear, etc.... AND the whole Palmdale side......So it's MILLIONS of acres(ok, I'm not exactly sure how many, but it's HUGE! LOL. We drove 50 miles, each way( 2 different directions coming home and going there )... and still could have gone another 50 in any direction from there(Not literal miles in a straight line, but canyon road wise).... There are at least 5 HUGE OHV spots within the Angeles Crest(especially on the 14Hwy side, like Rohwer Flats, etc., etc., etc.)... And some great camping, too. If you REALLY want to camp in a nice place without HUNDREDS of people... The kind that will literally come with 40 people and set up tents IN YOUR SITE, etc., ...playing boom-boom all night...... then you have to be prepared to hike in or 4WD in and have NO worries/no bothers. Ask Richard/Redeth.... Just how secluded the ones WAY up by the Fire-Prison camp are... or the first place, where I went up the steep hills in the video... Those places are NOT favorites of huge groups, cuz they can't get all their lowered cars and stuff in there... Heck, Redeth had trouble with a 4WD in just the entry point... So imagine a car? Back in there, there are BEAUTIFUL spots.. and all over the places I mentioned, it's like night and day from each other... TOTALLY different, from THICK pines you can't see 20 feet ahead to VERY open desert dunes, etc. I LOVE the Sierras and Sequoias more.... but they're WAY further, hahaha... And, as I said, if you're willing to go in there,... you'll find PLENTY to do for about 5 years of weekends, before you see it all, ya know? Upper Tujunga and Lower Tujunga, Aliso Canyon, all those places have water most often, too... And THEY are actually just 6-10 miles up the mountain(20 minutes).

If you wanna go next time, lemme know, JMC! K?

Thumbs up 1994 4Runner 3.0 - Stock lift, wheels, K&N Intake

Mostly mountain roads driving, I got about 15 MPG. Installed the intake and it went down to 13 :-(
Oddly enough, unhooked the O2 sensors and it went up to 18 :-)
I'm planning on trying the HHO to see if it works. I'll reply to this if I do it and let everyone know what hydrogen does to mileage.

OK im getting right around 245 miles to a tank running it down to the "Low Fuel" light.

Stock 88 4runner 22re 5 speed, BFG 31's on 36psi, Stock gearing, Stock height. Usually with no top on it, I get about 10 per tank more. Im thinking thats because SoCal is hilly and the weight of the top makes the slightest difference.

1992 22re xcab 4x4 and I am usually getting around 22 mpg. If I really drive it like a grandma I can get around 24, but that's no fun.

Just curious but has anyone ever done the "the groove" mod to their throtle body?

Info can be found on here:
http://www.gadgetmangroove.com/

I want to call BS but I have come across many videos claiming otherwise. Just curious if anyone on here has done it. I know this guys supposed trick is more than just cutting a groove in the TB. I think he does something to the O2 sensors too. Anyways, just curious if anyone else has any insight.

Not only is it PERMANENT, MAINTENANCE-FREE and EFFECTIVE, but it is yours for $500 or LESS!

and it is covered by our 100% Satisfaction Guarantee!

If you're not satisfied, what does their guarantee cover?

On the other hand, I can give you a method to increase your mileage for under $2.
Strap a fresh egg (hard boiled doesn't count) to your gas pedal, and don't crush it when you drive.

This sounds a bit good to be true, but it appears my 95 4Runner with the V6 3VZE has been getting about 22-24 MPG (11-12 L/100 km) after a tune up and manual hub swap. When I first got the truck it was getting 21 MPG (13 L/100km).

Weird.

Thats great.. Every other v6 4runner on the planet gets about 15mpg. Might want to hang on to that one.

Ok..... now I DO have the 32x11.50's on for a bit now... But this tank, got 12.41 MPG's .... ahhhhh... SOMETHING is wrong, because on my trek up and over the Angeles Crest to the Littlerock, CA area,... Wheeling, then back over and filled up reading 17.8 MPG...... WTH? haha......

I've also been experiencing some odd idling down to 500rpm when "restarting at operating temps"... Not every time, but often. It self corrects within 10 seconds, every time.

Oh well, back to the gremlin hunt eventually.. Have other stuff to finish if I can find any time, ATM! So AFTER that 'stuff'.... I'll look into this again.

Printed out the FSM troubleshooting/testing procedures and cleaning of filter procedures for the Charcoal Canister in the Evap/Emissions system... Gonna charge up the compressor and give that some testing tomorrow, just for the heck of it.

PS> On rare occasions when it's doing that "idle down to 500rpm" thing... It seems like it's running on 3 cyl's... Then like other times, even when it's not, it just corrects itself within 10 seconds or so.
